Mary Stachura Obituary

Mary Beth Stachura

3/11/1962 - 2/26/2021

On Friday, February 26th, Mary Beth Stachura completed her life on earth and began her next journey into eternity. MB was born to Melvin Sr. and Mary Lee Stachura in March of 1962. She attended St. Agnes, Start High School and graduated from Defiance College.

For a brief period, she was employed by the Lucas County Sheriff's Department until she started her career as a Toledo Police Officer in 1990. For many years MB ran the Police Athletic League molding the lives of many of Toledo's youths and after 26 years of service, she retired in 2016. MB was a faithful fan of Michigan football, Braves baseball, and the NFL Raiders so she was well aware what the agony of defeat meant.

Preceding her into the afterlife was her parents and her sister, Sharon Monday. Left to tell her tales are her siblings, Ken (Daniel) Stachura, Mel (Dana) Stachura, Bev (Ed) Mathews; her many nieces and nephews that she simply adored; and her two fur babies, Keira and Gigi.

Per her wishes, she was cremated and there will no services since she wouldn't be able to buy the first few rounds. However, we will be bending elbows in her honor on a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the families of Officers Anthony Dia and Officer Brandon Stalker, or to the Toledo Humane Society. With MB's induction, Heaven doesn't know what it's in for.

I did not know MB very well but in 1997 she helped a group of young boys by donating money and uniforms to help them play in National Championships in Orlando. I just remember calling her once and she said she would help. Little did we know at the time that team would have college and professional athletes. That trip helped pave the way for their success. God Bless her

A wonderful lady!!! She was so very helpful when my neighbor, Moe, passed away. Just after we moved while I was walking my dog on Laskey instead of Sylvania, she stopped to see if I was OK. Rest in peace dear lady.

I didn't know her well but the times I did see her and talk to her she seemed like a great person, she could make you laugh no matter your mood. And if I could see her now I would say thank you for defending me when I didn't even know you did. Also thank you for your service as an officer. May God bless and comfort her family, friends and pets.

Mary Beth was one of kind! Always made you laugh and genuinely cared about her family and friends. Another one of the good ones taken way too soon!

We would like to pass our condolences on to the Stachura family and Mary Beth’s friends. We came to know Mary Beth initially by her formal name at Defiance College. However, for the next t four years we all shared a campus with “Stitch”. She was a pleasure to share our college experience with and we have never forgotten her raspy voice and vivacious spirit. God Bless her and keep her.
