Moravia: Daniel L. Miller, 43, of Moravia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Auburn Community Hospital. Daniel was born Jan. 29, 1972 in Ithaca, and had been a life-long area resident. He was graduated from Lansing Central School in 1990, and attended culinary school at Johnson & Wales Univ. in Rhode Island. He had been employed as a chef at several local restaurants. Dan attended Sempronius Baptist Church, and was a member of the Cortlandville Masonic Lodge. He loved to hunt and liked to do wood burnings. Dan's greatest enjoyments in life were to be a loving father, husband, son, and brother and to display his cooking skills. He is survived by his wife, Shannon M. (Hooper) Miller; four children, Matthew A. and Christian D. Miller of Millerton, PA, Lillian G. and Elijah P. Miller at home; his parents, Fred and Judy (Westcott) Miller of Moravia; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Westcott of Unadilla; paternal grandmother, Lucy M. Miller of Manassas, VA; a sister, Amy J. (Chris) Miller-Larkin of Freeville; mother and father-in-law, Diane and Robert Hooper of Locke; grandfather-in-law, Gerald P. Beebee of Moravia; brother-in-law, Robert L. Hooper II of Scipio; nephew, Justin Larkin and niece, Heather Larkin. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Sempronius Baptist Church (Frazier Road) with Pastor Dennis Grimes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to establish a trust fund for the Miller children, in care of the First National Bank of Groton (attn: Jody Bancroft), 161 Main St., Groton, NY 13073.
