Michael Beam Obituary

BEAM

Michael

Michael Beam, age 65, loved baseball, golf, southern gospel music, slap stick humor, singing harmonies and most importantly his family, church and God (not necessarily in that order). His kindness will continue to have rippling impact on everyone he met. "Beamer" would talk the ear off of anyone that would listen about life in general ... and God. He always kept a song in his heart, and from time to time, he'd let it all out and sing it to you.

He was involved with McCord Road Christian Church and his community. He sang as part of a quartet, appropriately named "Almost Home." Michael participated in the MS Walk year after year, raising thousands of dollars. After many years with the Detroit Free Press, he brought joy to his co-workers and customers at Schlotzsky's Deli (as the Singing Troubadour) and Order on the Way. His motto was "It's not what you do, but how you do it."

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Jim Beam. Survived by his mother, Kay; his beloved wife, Mary; son, Jeffrey; sisters, Silky and Cynthia; daughter-in-law, Heather; grandson, Elliot and so many other special friends.

Visitation will be held at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main Street, Sylvania on Friday, November 21, from 4-8 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 11 a.m. at the McCord Road Christian Church, 4765 McCord Road. Donations may be made to the MS Society or McCord Road Christian Church.

Mike always made me smile, he would always sing my orders and give me a free cookie, it was a joy getting sandwiches from him over the years, may his bright spirit live on. much love to his family and friends.

Mike had a gift for making everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the room. He loved people and fellowship, and he gave of himself in so many ways. He is already missed by so many and will continue to be missed. Knowing that he has received his heavenly reward, though, brings a smile to my face. He is harmonizing with the angels now, and starting his new, eternal work. May God bless and bring peace and comfort to Mary, Kay, Jeffery, Heather, Elliot, and all of Mike's family and friends. We have all lost a wonderful man, but we know that he is in the presence of his Father and all is well with him.

To Mary Depner Beam and Michaels family. I send (((HUGS))), prayers, condolences and all my love in this, your time of need. When I first met Michael and Mary, we were waiting for our plane to load. We struck up a conversation that lasted almost 3 years for me. You see, even tho I didn't see him and Mary much, they were always in my prayers and I can always hear Michael with one of his comments to make me smile and Bless Me and mine. MIchael, I am not eloquent with words so bear with me. I know what I want to be when I grow up now. I want to be just like you and Mary. You are two of the most Godly, loving, caring, compassionate and happy people I have known. You joy for life and all the people in your lives, your energy, your humor. All of it guided by God and shared with the rest of us for no charge other than an ear now and then. Thank you both for being bright spots in my life. I will always love you for what you do! Sorry for typos.

I miss you dearly my friend. You were a very selfless and special person. You possessed all the qualities the heavenly father could only wish others would strive to be. You were a wonderful representative of human kindness. Prayers to all your family and to all who knew you. It's a loss for the world.
