Michael Schober Obituary

Michael G. Schober

Michael G. Schober, 77, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on March 3, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Ervin and June (Nissen) Schober.

A 1966 graduate of Waite High School, Mike continued his education at Bowling Green State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in education. He later received his master's degree from the University of Toledo, and was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He dedicated 35 years to Oregon City Schools, beginning his career as a coach and Industrial Arts Teacher at Fassett Junior High, and retiring in 2006 as Dean of Students at Clay High School.

In retirement, Mike enjoyed life's simple pleasures-relaxing on his pontoon boat at Lake LeAnn, golfing with friends, and spending winters in The Villages, Florida. He was always the first to offer help with a household project or repair, generously lending his time and talents to friends and family. Above all, Mike cherished time with his loved ones. Whether dining out or cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities, he relished every moment. He will be fondly remembered for his warm, caring nature and the unmistakable "Schober humor" he passed on to his children.

Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rose; children, Matt (Cheri) Schober, Ron Stahl, Lynn Stahl, and Andy (Christy) Schober; grandchildren, Drew, Kelsey, Kendyl, Ali, Anna, Darren, Wyatt, Marshall, and Cade; siblings, Carol Rose, Janice Valentine, and Susan (Mark) Bernhardt; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Captain Jack Ervin Schober, who proudly served in the United States Air Force.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. Private interment will follow at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown, Michigan. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to The Parkinson's Foundation. www.parkinson.org

Yesterday

Mike Schober - - what a great guy! It was both an honor and fun to teach with him. Mike was (probably still is) a big part of the "Fassett Family" we formed back in the ´80´s. We will miss seeing him around, but we will keep him in our thoughts and in our great memories. Sympathy and love to Rose and family, who were definitely #1 in Mike´s heart. Rest well, my friend.

Yesterday

Mike was my down-the-street neighbor and my friend. Always loyal. Fun and funny. Who was there at the funeral home for both of my parents? Mike was, years after both of us had moved from our childhood homes. Although we may not have seen each other for years, no time was lost with his friendship. My last chance to see him was at our Waite High School class mini-reunion this past August. We sat face to face, remembering and laughing. I will always be grateful for those few minutes. I will miss him.
