Michelle Irons Obituary

IRONS

Michelle Marie

"To laugh often and much: to win the respect of

intelligent people and the

affection of children... to leave the world a better place... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Michelle passed away

Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the age of 49 years and one week, after a brief battle with

cancer. Those who knew and loved her will miss her energy, her smiles, and her determination to do things her way. She died doing what she loved to do, cruising with her family. She leaves a void in the lives of her family as well as all those who knew her.

She loved travel and theatre. She surrounded herself with family and friends who shared her passions. Mick's life was one of unconditional love and she will be dearly missed by all those that knew her, including her family, patients, their families and her many friends far and wide. She was the family reunion coordinator and family photographer, keeping her memories for everyone. Her annual Christmas letter was a bright spot in everyone's mailbox, as she chronicled her year's travels, adventures, and family additions.

Michelle was fiercely

independent, a woman of great strength and strong faith. She loved life and loved people. All who knew her, know that she truly did leave this world a better place.

She is survived by her

parents, Charles and Marie Irons, and five siblings, Rebecca Hussing (Sean LaPlante), April Flynn, Christine Chambers (Dave), Charles "Chip" Irons (Amy), Virginia Hindbaugh (Chuck); nieces and nephews, Jessica Hussing Gregory (Michael), Samantha Hussing, Brandon Beaverson (Jeanette), Zachary Flynn (Whitney), Kaitie and Hannah Flynn, Brittnay Chambers Highsmith (Trey), Courtney Chambers, Anthony Chambers (Amanda), Jacob Chambers, Charles "Chase" Irons, Emma Irons, Celia, Chali, Acea, Charles III, Elijah and Levi Hindbaugh. Great-nieces and nephews, Maraya, Camren and Brooke. Also left to mourn her are aunts, uncles and cousins, too numerous to mention.

She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception "Darby;" McAuley High School; Walsh College (University); and Medical College of Ohio a.k.a. UTMC. She has been a practicing pediatrician in the Toledo area since 1994. She gave her time to the Double Arc Program and

to Immaculate Conception Church. Her affiliations were many and those who knew her spoke highly of her.

In lieu of flowers, we, her survivors, request that you consider Double Arc, 3837 Secor Rd. Toledo, OH 43623 (it was her passion for helping children afflicted with FASD/FAE; or Immaculate Conception Church, 434 Western Ave. Toledo, OH 43609 to establish a Memorial in Michelle's name [M.I.M.I.C.] Michelle Irons Memorial at Immaculate Conception. Michelle would want us to pay it forward, just as she did while with us, she does now by her death.

Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home; 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from

2:00-8:00 p.m., and Sunday,

November 17, from 2:00-6:00 p.m., where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at the mortuary on Monday,

Not sure what to say?

It's 2024, it seems like yesterday you were my 3 girls awesome pediatrician....just so you know 2 of my girls have a baby each now and they only wanted to go to your office. You made that office special for them, they loved to see you. Still feels like you are there. I wish you could have met my grandbabies Marcelina and Emilia, they're now patients at your office and they would have loved you too. Never forgotten.

To this day, I always remember Michelle. She was truly a great person. My girls were little and still remember her laugh and jokes. Out of nowhere, memories of her come to me, and I think it's her saying she's ok. Awesome person, and an awesome angel.

Words can never express the deep sense of sadness I felt the morning I read on Facebook of your passing. You were my pediatrician and had to force me to find an adult doctor because I didn't want to lose you as a doctor. When I needed help the most you were there for me with a firm hand but a kind heart. A few years later when I needed to find a pediatrician for my son I knew it had to be you. This summer right after I found out that I was sick you made a joke and lightened the mood and encouraged me to move forward and listen to my doctors. You always knew just what to say. My life and Johns life is better for having known you.

May God hold your family in the palm of his hands and ease there sorrow.

Thank you Dr.Irons for always being a confidant when I needed one. -Laticia

Dr. Irons will be so very much missed by both my son and myself. She is the only one, out of all of her associates, that truely understood my son and her diagnosis was always spot on! She wasn't just his doctor, but also his friend! Our dear Lord gained a wonderful soul when she arrived to her heavenly home. May her loved ones be comforted that she is with the Lord.

November 26, 2013

Very sorry to hear about Dr. Irons passing. She was an amazing Dr. to both of my children and she will be greatly missed.

Dr. Irons cared for my son from his first visit at the pediatricians until just recently in August of this year. She was a pleasure to see at each visit, always bubbly and so caring at each stage of my sons life. I remember she had a Mickey Mouse watch that she would play music on to distract him from the usual pokes and prods of an exam...she will be truly missed...

Courtney Richardson

November 22, 2013

My deepest sympathy goes out to all her family and friends. She was truly an amazing pediatrician and person. My family and I will surely miss her, she has been my son's Dr since he was a baby and he is now sixteen. I knew she had a love for the water and being around boats ( she often told me about her boat outings with her brother) as we had that in common. We only realized this after running into eachother at Put- In- Bay years ago. My condolences and prayers to all who loved her and had the privilege to know her. Rest peacefully in heaven.

I met Michelle through our love of theater and The Scarlet Pimpernel and have wonderful memories of laughter and joy in NYC and other cities! I will miss her Christmas letters and tales of traveling and theater adventures and family times! She lived her life to the fullest and was such a beautiful example of doing what she loved with those she loved! We will all miss her bright spirit. I extend my deepest sympathy to the Irons family and pray for comfort and strength and peace in the face of this terrible loss...as well as hope, to one day see her again when there are no more goodbyes and no more pain or sorrow! God bless and keep and comfort you all!

I was so saddened to hear of Michelle's passing at such a young age. I first met Michelle while working together with the Double ARC team to train and then begin the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Clinic. She was wonderful to work with and spent many hours volunteering her expertise to help families and children affected by alcohol. Double ARC will miss her greatly.
My condolences to the entire Irons family.

My thoughts and prayers to the Irons family. I had picked Dr. Irons when she walked through the room after the delivery of my first baby. As we were getting my oldest his final check up before heading home, my mom came in. Little did I know that they grew up together. She was a caring, wonderful pediatrician well worth going the extra distance. She will be greatly missed by my family (and my extended family).

November 19, 2013

Words cannot describe the way my heart feels as I have just recently found out about Dr. Irons. She was my pediatrician for many years, as well as my son's for the last six years. She, too, also held my son before I even did. I will never forget her genuine and real love for her patients and family. She always had great stories to tell about her family and the traveling she did with them. May she rest peacefully in Heaven and her family receive the love and support needed to carry on her spirit. Much love, Jaime Shadix and Logan Dale xoxo*

Although Michelle was a friend of my older sister starting in high school, she always stood out to me because she treated me as an equal and spoke to me in the same exact way she did to my sister and her friends, as opposed to the annoying younger sister tagging along and being a nuisance. I was so saddened to hear the news of her passing. She will be sorely missed.

All 3 of my children have seen Dr. Irons for the past 16 years. She was an amazing woman and loved her patients so much. She took the time to care and explain everything to me and them. She will be greatly missed. I asked God why her, she was so young and full of love and life. Then I thought, why not her. She is exactly what God would want in a guardian angel. He has bigger plans for her. We will miss you and you will be forever in our hearts.

The first time, I met Dr. Irons, was..quite a few years back. My son was sledding at Maumee Bay Park, down that huge hill, and rammed his sled into the picnic table. I immed. was able to get an appointment at Maumee Bay Pediatrics and in walks Dr. Irons. Justin was in very good hands that day..x-rays were ordered, pain medication and a correct diagnosis was made. To your family, associates, patients and families..what a loss we will always feel in our hearts. We lost a beautiful and caring person..But, heaven gained a angel..Forever in our hearts..Dr Irons..God bless you and your family.

I remember the first time I met Dr. Irons, she came to St. Charles to see my newborn and it was the day of the big OSU vs Michigan game. Dr. Irons came in wearing her OSU gear and complimented my son on his little Scarlett and Grey knit cap. I knew from that moment I LOVED her! Dr. Irons and I held a wonderful bond, she shared a special bond with my children as well. We will deeply miss her and there will be a void that could never be filled. Thank you so very much Dr. Irons for everything you did for our family.

November 16, 2013

My family and I are deeply saddened at the loss of our pediatrician of 17 years. She has definitely become a friend to us...like an extended family member. My 18 year old daughter started seeing Dr. Irons when she was just a year and a half. One of her greatest concerns about turning 18 was having to eventually leave Dr. Irons and go to an adult doctor. When we moved across town, away from the office, there was never a second thought that I would be driving 20-30 minutes so my kids could continue to see her. She has seen our family through trauma, teen years, my 6 yr old in the nicu as a newborn, my 5 year old's hospital stays with asthma as an infant and not a single time did I ever doubt or worry about the medical care my kids were receiving from Dr. Irons. I had the utmost faith in her as my kids' doctor. She would remember things about my kids from years prior. She was so good with my kids, putting them at ease, entertaining them and of course correcting them when they were being naughty. Dr. Irons will be greatly, greatly missed and never forgotten! Our deepest and sincerest sympathy for your loss! I pray God's presence and embrace comfort you in your time of sorrow!

My son's doctor since the day he was born Dr. Irons was the only one who could get him to talk to her. She was so professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I worked with Dr. Irons when I worked as a RN on the pediatric unit at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH. She treated all of the nurses on the unit with respect, was willing to teach us, and treated all of her patients as though they could be one of her own. If a child had something going on that wasn't obvious, Dr. Irons would research until she found out what was going on. She was compassionate, fun, intelligent - it is such a shock to hear of her passing. The pediatric world is a little darker without her care in it: children were the beneficiaries of her compassion.

Dr. Irons was not my children's direct pediatrician but she would see them when ours wasn't available. Even though she wasn't "ours" she treated my children like they were her total responsibility she still knew everything about them and how to treat them just right. She even read up on my daughter's condition and made sure she was familiar with her illness and knew all about it so she could treat her when we would come in and see her. Thank you so much Dr. Irons. I will miss seeing you in the office and I am so very sorry to her family, co-workers, and friends. I am sure she was an amazing woman. God Bless.

Dear Mickey you will be missed. I am re-posting this Facebook post to share with your many other friends.

Mickey, you were always a delightful puzzle and inspiration to us all.

Your love of life and its experiences, your embrace of travel, new things, tolerance of all things, made us all better human beings.

You overcame all odds to become the most generous of souls, and made us all so proud.

Looking after your family and so many other children, God brought you home far too early.

We are grateful for you and only hope to carry on the very best of you. You will be missed.

God bless you and keep you.

Michelle - We first met in 2001 following The Scarlet Pimpernel and I treasure all of the adventures we shared after that. I loved your enthusism for life and your passion about the things and people you loved! My last memories of you are on the beach here in Miami with the wind in your hair and sand between your toes! I will miss you my friend, but choose to believe you've gone on ahead for the next big adventure.

What a wonderful person Dr irons was! She took such good care of our family, and certainly helped us breath easier, especially my son who she was a tremendous help through terrible bouts with asthma. It is sad to see such a wonderful women have to leave this life so young! God bless her and her family.

Michelle was a good friend to my husband, James Musgrove, and became the doctor for my granddaughter. She was a good friend and we used to wait for her Christmas letters. I still hang them up every year. My prayers go out to her whole family.
