Mike Evanoff Obituary

Mike Evanoff

Mike Evanoff, 74, drove his '65 Chevy Malibu to Heaven on January 24, 2022. Born in Toledo, Ohio on September 10, 1947 to Mito and Mary Evanoff. Mike was a 1965 graduate of Waite High School and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1967-1969. He was sent to Vietnam in 1968 as an amphibian operator at Wunder Beach on the South China Sea. Mike worked at Lakefront Docks, Knauffmans Co., and Davis Besse before he and his wife Woneida opened Suburban Motors on Woodville Rd. which they operated for over 20 years. Mike and Woneida grew up as neighborhood friends and celebrated 51 years of marriage.

There wasn't anything he couldn't repair or make, a skilled mechanic, welder and fabricator who had a passion for racing and speed, no matter what it was it had to be fast, even if it was a bicycle. He loved to feed his squirrels and birds, sitting on the back porch with his pet parakeet, Pretty Boy.

He was charming, quick witted and one crazy Bulgarian, there will never be a better friend or husband. I will miss the love of my life and best friend...till we meet again.

Survived by wife, Woneida; brother, John; sisters, Angela Sohnly, Dianne LaMantia; nephews, Tony (Kathy) LaMantia, Michael (Angela) LaMantia, Steven (Robin) Sohnly, Mark Sohnly, Matt (Dawn) Sohnly; great- nieces and nephews, Taylor, Kyndal, and Jenna LaMantia, Samuel (Sothea) Sohnly, and Garrett Sohnly, Olivia and Luke Sohnly. Preceded in death my parents, Mito and Mary Evanoff; sister, Jeanette Barnes; brothers-in-law, Glen Barnes, Ronnie LaMantia, Richard "Bud" Sohnly.

No funeral Services. A celebration of Mike's life will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 1-4:00 p.m. at Bayside Banquet Hall, 2759 Seaman Rd., Oregon, Ohio.
