Molly Ehni Obituary

Molly Boyer Ehni, a longtime resident of Maumee, passed away on November 11, 2005, in her Maumee home. She was born on July 18, 1933, in Toledo. In the late 1930's she was afflicted with Polio, which left her with a slight disability. However, in 2003, she developed Post-Polio Syndrome.
Molly graduated from Libbey High School and from Colorado College in Colorado Springs with a degree in Elementary Education and in Art History. She taught Kindergarten in Toledo prior to her marriage to Tom in 1957, and they recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Later, Molly taught at the Elizabeth Wayne Nursery School in Maumee.
Molly loved the Toledo Museum of Art and became a member of the Art Museum Aides in 1968. She was active in the Annual Membership Drive for ten years and later was one of the original members of the Artravel Committee. Molly and Tom organized and led several Art Museum trips to Chicago, Toronto, and the Brandywine Valley in Delaware among others. Molly was also a member of the Maumee Garden Club, Book Explorers, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and her high school Bridge Group, who met once a month ever since the Libbey days.
She became interested in the history and culture of China, and took Post-Graduate work in that field at The University of Toledo. She traveled extensively in China, visiting six times over a period of years.
Molly is survived by her loving husband, Tom; two daughters, Karen (Paul) Gautreaux of Dallas, Texas and Marcia (Bob) Wernet of Park Ridge, Illinois; three grandsons, Mitchell Wernet, Jack Wernet and Spencer Gautreaux, and Tom's sister, Barbara (William) Van Luven of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Nancy.
Molly was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee and the Memorial Service will be held there at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, followed by interment in the St. Paul's Columbarium and a reception in the Parish Hall. Arrangements are by the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary.
The family would like to recognize and thank the caregivers, Amy and Becky and the staff of Heartland Hospice of Perrysburg, particularly Rose.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that remembrances in Molly's name be made to the Endowment Fund of St. Paul's Church, or the Toledo Museum of Art.
