Nancy Kay Hechinger

02/03/1939 - 10/19/2022

Nancy Kay Hechinger, age 83, of Toledo, passed away on October 19, 2022. She was raised in Elida, Ohio with her two sisters, where she graduated high school. She then went on to be the first member of her family to go to college, earning a Bachelor's degree in education from Bowling Green State University. Nancy met the love of her life, Philip Hechinger, in a bowling alley, and married him in June of 1962. Together they started their life in Adrian, Michigan and later moved to Toledo, where they raised their two children. Nancy taught with Washington Local Schools, worked at the Westgate Hallmark, and later retired from AAA. She was very active at North Cove Blvd Church of God with the children's ministry, choir, Women of the Church of God Ministry, and the church bowling league. Later she attended Quarry Ridge Church of God and Northwood Church of God. Nancy enjoyed bowling, puzzles, was an avid reader and exceptional seamstress. She was also extremely supportive of her children and grandchildren's endeavors.

In addition to her husband of 48 years, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters, Judy Ayoub and Linda Croft. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Sharon) Hechinger and Diane Silver; grandchildren, Josh Silver, Kelsie (Zach) Hamilton; great-grandson, Caleb; aunt, Dorothy Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Northwood Church of God, 3375 Curtice Rd, Northwood, Ohio at 3:00 pm. Newcomer Funeral Home â€" Northwest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
