PICKETT

Patricia Fought

Patricia Fought Pickett passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 18, 1932, in Toledo to Helen and Emory Fought. She graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1950 and attended the University of Toledo, where she met her future husband, George Pickett. While at UT, Pat was a cheerleader, played in the band, a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and a member of Varsity T. While attending UT, both Pat and George worked at Churchill's on Central Ave.

On Thanksgiving Day, 1954, George and Pat were married. Afterward, she embarked on a 30-year career as a teacher and guidance counselor with Toledo Public Schools while raising three children, Larry, Mike and Kristi. George and Pat continued to support their beloved Rockets, holding football and basketball season tickets since 1954. Besides enjoying time with family, Pat was past member of the New Century Club of Perrysburg, an avid bird watcher, and loved spending time at the family cottage in Northern Michigan. In their retirement, Pat and George enjoyed traveling to Kenya, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Ireland, and other European destinations.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 60 years, George; children, Larry (MaryRose), Mike (Cathy), and Kristi (Marc) Delph; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include twin sister, Peggy Martin, and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Fought. She is preceded in death by one brother, David, and 2 sisters, Nancy and Mary Jane.

In celebration of Pat's life, the family will hold a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Alzheimer's Association, UT Athletic Dept. and College of Education, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

George and family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Patty! I'am so thankful that i got to know her for the short time that i took care of her , putting her to bed at night. She had a wondful smile and i just got so attached to her.I would bring my kids over to see her and they just loved Miss Patty! May God hold her in the palm of his hands.

My wife Jan and I met Pat at a few UT athletic events. George and I were friends from our days at the downtown coaches lunches at the Toledo Club. One bus trip back to Toledo following a Rocket football game at Ford Field in Detroit was especially memorable, great conversation across the aisle of the bus heading for Toledo. Jan also was a counselor and I recall how she and Pat enjoyed some great rapport about kids and school. Always heard such nice comments about Pat from their former neighbor, Jocko Gordon. Our condolences to you, George, and your loving family. Pat made a big impression even though we only met her briefly. God bless Pat!
