Patricia Schuster Obituary

Patricia A. Schuster

Patricia A. Schuster slipped away from this world and joined her beloved husband, John Edward Schuster, in Heaven, on April 16, 2024. Pat was born January 19, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio to John "Alvin" and Esther (Knott) Feltis. On October 22, 1949, Pat married the love of her life, John E. Schuster. Early in their marriage, they moved to their forever home in Sylvania, a mile from where John was born. Together they raised three sons, John (Jackie), Gary (Lisa), and Tom. John and his Patsy would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last year, but John left early to make sure their Heavenly home would be just how his wife would like it. The couple loved to entertain friends, play cards, and host family events in a house filled with love and laughter.

As mom, grandma, and great-grandma, Pat exemplified unconditional love for family; especially for her "boys," who in her eyes, could do no wrong. She'd only grin and nod when teased by her daughters-in-law about this fact, but truthfully, they were also welcomed into her life and love, with open arms, as were any children they had, who were seen as a wonderful bonus.

While Pat considered her greatest achievement to be her family, she was also proud that her "Holiday Cranberry Pie" was the winning recipe in a local contest, earning her a cash prize and her picture in the newspaper. She loved to play, and win, at games and cards, even reaching impressively high levels in Tetris on the (grandchildren's) Nintendo. She'd get the same victorious glow and feisty grin on her face after she'd succeeded in properly irritating John, but he could never stay mad, and they'd soon be back to their usual banter.

Pat loved to go out with friends and travel, often "informing" John that they were going on a trip with another couple or the church's Leisure League, leading them to have an active life with many fun times and adventures. This gave Pat an endless supply of stories to share with the family, which she did happily and with no regard to protests of it having been told before. Her incredible memory for detail helped bring her stories to life, and her joy in the telling was reflected on her face, which made listening to them worthwhile every time.

Pat loved cats, and dogs, and bird watching. She and John had several Shelties – but a little Yorkie named Georgie became her faithful four-legged companion for the last years of her life.

Pat is survived by her sons; grandchildren, Thomas, Jeffrey, Amanda, Shelby, Matthew, Heather, Michael, Courtney, and Billy; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Maddy, Claire, Nora, Mackenzie, Atlas, and Fletcher; and her niece, Sue, with whom she shared a special connection. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary E. Kleparek; and brother, John R. Feltis.

The phrase, "everybody loved Pat," is not an exaggeration, and we will miss her immensely, but there's no doubt that this woman of faith is in Heaven, reunited with John and her family, getting the house, snacks, and decks of cards ready for a fun time with the new friends they've undoubtable made already. Rest easy Pat, mom, Patsy, grandma, and we'll see you when we get there. You were simply the best, beautiful lady, and we were so blessed to have you.
