Patricia Seifried Obituary

SEIFRIED Patricia Flaherty Patricia Flaherty (McNer-ney) Seifried, 73, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died peacefully on September 1, 2009 after a short illness. The dearly loved and cherished wife of her surviving husband, George B. Seifried, Patricia also leaves behind her four loving children, Katherine Darlington (Larry) of Dublin, Ohio; Patricia Eula McNerney of Madison, Connecticut; Melissa Babcock (Brian) of Kenilworth, Illinois; and John McNerney (Karin) of Toledo, Ohio, all of whom are children from her first marriage to N. James McNerney. Her surviving grandchildren are Trish (fiancé John Lewellen), Katherine, Teddy, Tad; Mary; B. Willard, Jr., Preston; Mac, Steffen, Kate, and J.P., all of whom loved their Nana deeply. She was also loved and will be missed by George's children, John Seifried (Kristin), Susan Wiland (Bruce), Todd Seifried (Jennifer), and grandchildren, Alexis, Cameron, Emily, Claire, Max, Henry and Ellie. Patricia was the oldest of four daughters born to Joseph Francis Flaherty and Mary Burns Flaherty in Cleveland, Ohio. During her formative years she lived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and she attended Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. She is survived by her dear sister, Katherine Berry Royal (Toms) of Bay Head, New Jersey and Vero Beach, Florida and her nieces and nephew, Anna Marie, Lisa, Trish, Shannon; Sean, Bridget and Stacey. A very close aunt, Jeneve (Sugar) Wolfers of Newcastle, Pennsylvania also survives. Preceding her in death were her parents and her sisters, Josephine McHugh and Julia Fite. Pat was a committed community volunteer throughout her life. In her earlier years she was a Brownie Leader and helped to run the Drug Awareness programs in her children's school. She was also a volunteer with the Junior League of Toledo, Ohio, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Lourdes College, Crittenden, and St. Anne's Church of Naples. She was a docent at the Toledo Museum of Art and a participant with the Naples Museum of Art. She was a member of the Toledo Club, Toledo Country Club, Carranor Hunt and Polo Club of Perrysburg, Ohio, Grey Oaks Country Club of Naples and St. William Catholic Church of Naples. She was the director of the Town Hall Lecture Series in Toledo and ran Fine Things, Inc., a jewelry, fine linens and stationery business, and she was an etiquette and protocol consultant with the Protocol School of Washington. Pat was a joyful, Christian lady and devoted mother who will be remembered by her family and friends for her smile and graciousness, and her non-judgmental, kind and grateful attitude - a tribute to God's goodness and her strong faith and spirituality. A private mass for the family will be held at St. William Catholic Church followed by a private interment and then a Memorial Mass will be held in Toledo, Ohio in the next couple of months. Charitable donations, in lieu of flowers, may be given to Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, OH 43560; or St. William Catholic Church, 750 Seagate Drive, Naples, FL 34103, or the American Cancer Society of Naples, Florida, 990 1st Avenue South #200, Naples, FL 34102, and Naples Community Hospital Oncology, Unit 350, 7th Street, Naples, FL 34102.
