Paulette Rudzki Obituary
Sister M. Paulette, OSF
Sister M. Paulette Rudzki entered life on April 25, 1924, and entered eternal life on March 6, 2014. The daughter of Paul and Cecilia Rudzki was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the family moved to Detroit, Michigan where the four children were educated by the Sylvania Franciscans at St. Cunegunda School. Sr. Paulette and her sister, Sr. Vianney, wanted to enter the convent right after grade school but were encouraged by their father to wait a few years. They both came to Sylvania, Ohio to become Sisters of St. Francis in 1940. Sister Paulette professed her first vows in August 18, 1944, and her final vows in August 18, 1947, and Sister Vianney made her profession of vows two years later.
Sister Paulette served in health care for 62 years in hospitals sponsored by her Order in Texas, Michigan and Ohio. She was a licensed practical nurse and had further training in Electrocardiograph and Central Services Management. She felt her greatest achievement was her ministry at Providence Hospital for over 50 years. She liked to talk about how she worked in just about every department in the hospital but her favorite area was Central Services. Those who worked with her often commented on her dedication and reliability and ability to find anything anyone needed at any time. Though small in stature, Sister Paulette managed to come off as big as life with her friendly smile, quick wit and speedy movement. Her sister, Sister Vianney, and her were very close and were often mistaken for twins. They spent the last seven years in prayer ministry at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio.
There will be a Welcoming for Sister Paulette in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Her funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, preceded by visitation throughout the day. Interment will be in Porta Coeli Cemetary on the campus of the Sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio.
