Peter Flockenhaus Obituary
Peter Flockenhaus, M.D., age 88, a long time resident of Rossford, OH, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Dr. Flockenhaus was born in Wuppertal, Germany. He attended undergraduate school in Wuppertal. He graduated in 1954 from Phillips University Medical School in Marburg, Germany and received his M.D. degree in 1955. Dr. Flockenhaus immigrated to the United States in August of 1955 where he served as an intern and spent his residency at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH.
In March 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Ingrid Henschel, from Berlin, Germany.
From 1957 through 1960, he was a resident physician in internal medicine at St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo. In 1960, Dr. Flockenhaus began practicing general medicine in Rossford. He was on staff at Bowling Green State University from 1965 to 1975. He then turned his attention to being an Emergency Room physician at St. Charles Hospital. During the latter stage of his career, he resumed private practice until his retirement in December 1994.
Peter is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ingrid; children, Petra (David) Duly and Michael (Suzanne) Flockenhaus; grandchildren, Jeffrey Duly, Andrew (Jennifer) Duly, Timothy (Vicki Hsu) Duly, Steven (Joanna) Flockenhaus, Thomas Flockenhaus, and Peter Flockenhaus; and great-grandchild, Lorelei Duly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, OH 43460. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Procession to the Fort Meigs Union Cemetery in Perrysburg will immediately follow.
Memorial contributions in Peter's name may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 3425 Executive Parkway, Suite 206, Toledo, OH 43606.
