Phyllis BABEL Obituary

BABEL Phyllis J. Phyllis J. Babel, 81, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011, At Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg. She was born January 1, 1930, in Toledo and was the daughter of Joseph and Florence Popp. Phyllis worked in the office for Prudential Insurance from 1947-92, before retiring. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Phyllis loved to travel especially in the fall of the year. She and her daughter, Ruth, traveled to all 48 of the Continental United States. Phyllis is survived by her son, Christopher Babel; daughters, Ellen Rodriguez and Ruth Babel-Smith; granddaughter, Haley Rodriguez and step-sisters, Judy Koenig, Sandy Haberkamp and Helen Joyce Matejowsky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Babel, in 1991 and her brother, Joseph "Ernie" Popp. Friends are invited to visit from 1-7 p.m., Sunday, in the Ansberg - West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where the rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, from the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Dominic Savyo will officiate. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 River Road, Perrysburg, OH, 43551. When times get tough I think of the wonderful memories from our Asbury days. Your mother and family are a part of those memories. The Abdelnour family sends our deepest and most sincere condolences.
