Raymond C. West

Raymond C. West passed away January 21, 2018, age 92, of age-related causes in Spokane, WA. He was born October 3, 1925 in Toledo, OH to Clifton and Gladys (Kramer) West. He graduated from Central Catholic H.S. in 1943. He served in England in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then met his loving wife Lois (Ridenour) of 51 years and had 5 children with 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Following the war ("the Big One" as he used to call it), Ray had worked as an accountant for H Poll Electric. He then worked for Toledo Scale as a Cost Accountant, for over 30 years before retiring. While at Toledo Scale, he served as a board member for the Toledo Scale Credit Union.He was an active member of St. Clement Parish when he lived in Toledo. He loved bicycling with lifelong friend Frank Semetko, playing tennis, and of course the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed being with family at reunions and parties.Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois; sons, Patrick and Gerald ("Howdy"), and daughter, Shelly. He is survived by his brother, Donald (Ann) West of Bellvue, OH; his son, Michael (Pamela) West of Deer Park, WA and daughter, Barbara (John) Mattoni of Port Angeles, WA.Memorial services and burial are to be determined at a later date. Raymond will be buried alongside his wife at Toledo Memorial Cemetery. Please contact Barb at [email protected] for further details.

Thank-you Dad, for teaching me so much. You gave me all you had to give as a father. I am so proud and lucky to be your son! You are sorely missed by all of us you left behind to go to your place in Heaven with God.

Mike So sorry to hear about your dad. He had quite a life! I remember him helping to push the 36 to get it started. He also wasnt to happy for your BSA500.
Remember when I got asked for a Sunday drive. He ended up in Detroit going past some beautiful homes and streets. I think it was a 62 Chevy 4 door.
He was an interesting guy and seemed very quiet.
