Richard Lee
Richard Lee Farman entered into rest on March 20, 2016, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA, following a brief illness. He was born on July 29, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Dr. Frances Lee Farman and Jeanette Bronson Farman. He was a graduate of the University of Toledo and obtained his MBA from Orange University. During WWII, Richard served as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy on the USS Pelias and the USS Tinosa submarine Mare Island, California. He retired after 32 years of service from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Albany, GA. His personal interests included his love for golf, crossword puzzles, and reading, especially the newspaper. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he had previously served on the Finance Committee.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Jane Gerke Farman; his parents and siblings, John C. Farman and Jean Farman West. His memory will be forever treasured by his children, Dr. Douglas P. Farman (Patricha) of Kathleen, GA; Bruce R. Farman (Leanne) of Fayetteville, GA; and Connie F. Strawn (Dr. L. Daniel Strawn) of Macon, GA. His beloved seven grandchildren, Allison F. Kinney (Robbie), Emily F. Lovoy (Steve), Lydia A. Farman, Leslie L. Farman, Elizabeth C. Strawn, Laura Lee Dean (Jordan), and Daniel Strawn; and four great-grandchildren, Anna Pace Kinney, Carson Kinney, Emma Lovoy and Baby Dean.
The family will hold a private memorial service for Mr. Farman and memorial donations may be given to his Parrish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 S. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088, or to the Houston County Public Library, 1201 Washington Street, Perry, GA 31069. As published in The Blade

We are forever grateful for Richard's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."
