On one of my first visits to Perrysburg (it was 1990) with my husband, Steve Schwind, it was October and he planned for us to go to the bluegrass festival in Ottawa. He didn't tell any of his friends that he would be there. We pulled in after dark and walked up to the hickory grove where they all used to camp and, sure enough, there were Robbie and Kevin Kimber sitting around a campfire. I'll never forget the whoops and laughter as we emerged from the shadows. One only dreams of making an appearance and getting a reception like that! We played music and partied into the night then slept under the stars on a bed of hickory nuts. It was a sweet reunion of old friends and the beginning of my friendship with them that is still strong. On our trips to Perrysburg over the years, whenever we saw Coon and Kimber we would reminisce about that magical night. On our last visit in June of this year, we relived it one more time. Then, Robbie went to his house and brought back a handful of photos from that night that he said he kept out so he could look at them from time to time. He wasn't gone 5 minutes so I knew it had to be true. That was just so sweet! He was a big fan of our music, a gentle soul and good friend and I'll miss him.

When I first met Rob we were about 13 or 14, we were fishing on the river down at Maple St. I've had lots of great times with him through the years! Rob was a great lover of music, that was a common bond between us. I am a musician and it was always fun to play for Rob or have him in the audience when we would play somewhere. He was always enthusiastic and appreciative and he let you know it. Some of the best times I've had with Rob have been at the bluegrass festivals at Ottawa that we all would go to.
Rob was a good person, intelligent and sensitive. We will miss him a lot.
My condolences to his family.

I feel so fortunate to have just talked with Rob at the Holiday Inn. We had a very relaxing conversation. I introduced Rob to my family and Rob was polite and funny and, well, vintage Rob. I will remember you...

Coony Bird!!!!!! My friend in the green truck at Maple Street, at Ottawa for Blue Grass Fesitivals where everyone rode in the back of the truck through the campground, my friend who was so silly and so much fun. Lots and lots of laughs and memories of Robbie. Haven't seen you in many years but such a big part of my life and fun while I was living in P-Burg.
Rest in peace Robbie, my Coony Bird, you were always a good and fun friend to me.
