Robert DeBaets Obituary
Robert "Bob" V.
Robert "Bob" V. DeBaets, age 77, of Oregon, Ohio, went to meet his Lord and Savior on October 27, 2012, in the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. With his family by his side, Bob took his final journey after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born on August 23, 1935, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, son of the late Emil and Kathryne (Stabnaw) DeBaets.
Bob married Elisabeth "Liz" Cook on May 4, 1957. They moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Bob was employed 18 years with American Motors. He was transferred to Toledo where he worked 16 years with the former Jeep Corp., now Chrysler Corp., until his retirement as an area manager in 1991. Bob and Liz celebrated over 55 years together.
He spent many happy retirement years hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, watching football and NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved spending time at his shed with Liz in Wisconsin Rapids, driving his golf cart through the woods, and listening to country music, especially Conway Twitty. If you needed something fixed, "Grandpa could fix anything."
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elisabeth DeBaets, Oregon, OH; his daughter, Debora (John) Beyerl, Colby, WI; his son, Dean DeBaets, Oregon, OH; his seven grandchildren, Nicole (Dan) Moore, Josh DeBaets, Oregon, OH, Jennifer Beyerl, Wausau, WI, Julie Beyerl, Stevens Point, WI, John (Neshe) Beyerl, Jared Beyerl, James Beyerl, Colby, WI; three great-grandchildren, Macy Strauss, Maeling Moore, Benjamin Moore, Oregon, OH; four brothers, Eugene (Patricia) DeBaets, Raymond (Mary) DeBaets, Reedsburg, WI, Donald DeBaets, Palmyra, WI, and Bernard DeBaets, Oak Creek, WI. He is also survived by many friends in Toledo and Wisconsin, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by this parents, Emil and Kathryne DeBaets, and brother, William (Arlene) DeBaets.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Reedsburg. A celebration of life will take place in Oregon, Ohio, at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Flower Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
