Robert C. Gunner, 85, of Toledo, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.

Robert was born on November 23, 1928, to John and Catheryn (Hanson) Gunner in Toledo, Ohio.

He retired from L.O.F. in 1983 with 33 years of service.

Robert was a very active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. He was a Eucharistic minister and responsible for the setup of many events and activities with the church. He was inducted into the Cardinal Stritch Hall of Fame for his contributions to the Boosters. He was also a member of the Maumee F.O.E. # 2562.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Surviving is the love of his life for 66 years, Rose Mary (Schiavone) Gunner; children, Diana (Thomas) Zuchowski and Robert (Rhonda) Gunner; grandchildren, Dawn (Jeff) Heaton, Andrew (Jody) Zuchowski, Austin, Gunner, Kayla Gunner and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation at the Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, Ohio will begin on Friday, August 15, 2014, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with his rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services on Saturday will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. followed by his 11:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial at Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729 White St., Toledo, Ohio 43605. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Epiphany of the Lord, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.

You probably wouldn't even remember me at all but his father John and Mother Rosella took me to your house when I was young. I adopted them as my grandparents after my own grandma passed in 1968. My Parents lived across the street and we lost my Dad on Aug 6 and was shown right before Robert was. My Mother picked up a memorial card for me. I am sorry for your loss as I am sieey for my own Dads passing

I am so saddened by the loss of such a good man. Bob was like a father to me and Rose like a mom after my parents were gone! I always looked forward to seeing he and Rose.
