Robert McNutt Obituary

Robert "Bob" McNutt

June 29, 1928 - January 7, 2021

Robert "Bob" McNutt (92) of Springfield Township, formally of Toledo, Ohio, passed Thursday, January 7, 2021, following a short stay at Kingston Rehabilitation and Care Center, Sylvania, Ohio.

Born June 29, 1928 Bob was the only child of Franklin and Viola (Cook) McNutt. He was a proud student of Historic St. Patrick Grade School, and Central Catholic High School class of 1946. His 3 year attendance at Toledo University was interrupted by the Korean Conflict. He proudly served his country for 2 years being Honorably Discharged in 1952 at the rank of Sergeant First Class, Army corps of engineers.

He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane Kwiatkowski, at St. Teresa Catholic Church March 1, 1952. Shortly thereafter they were blessed with 3 daughters, Susan (John) Grajczyk, Sharon Nugent, Sandra (James) Floraday; and 1 son, Thomas (Cheri) McNutt all of whom he was very proud.

His Catholic faith was very important to him, attending St. Agnes Church for over 40 years, where he was one of its first lectors, later joining Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.

His working career of over 40 years was spent as a driver salesman for Taystee Bread and Cain's Potato Chips.

After retirement, Bob volunteered at Central Catholic High School, working in the alumni office.

Bob was a proud active member of the Teamsters union Local #365, holding various union positions over the years.

He was very proud of and enjoyed all the activities and antics of his 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Along with tending to his home and yard, he also enjoyed traveling with Betty to Florida, reading, and charter boat trips fishing for perch and walleye on Lake Erie.

Bob never met a stranger. His easy demeanor and quick wit made others feel at ease. Ever the gentleman, he was respected by young and old.

Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years Betty Jane; his children and their families.

Private family services were held. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date.

A very special thanks to the nurses, aides, and staff of 1C at Kingston Rehab and Care Center, Sylvania, Ohio for their care and compassion towards Bob and his family.

Donations may be made in Bob's memory to Central Catholic High School Athletic Department, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ohio or charity of the donor's choice.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He and Betty were good friends of my parents Jack and Mary Brown of Battle Creek, MI. He was the friendliest man I knew. Always enjoyed their visits. Prayers for the family.
