Robert Risdon Obituary

July 12, 1915 - Dec 27, 2007 Resident of San Mateo Bob passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he possessed an intellectual curiosity and passion for life and people. Those who knew him were touched by his wit, sense of humor, ready smile, and strong character. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy, his children Rick, Jim, Judy, and Debra, and his daughters by marriage, Linda and Donene. He was preceded in death by Wilma, his wife of 15 years and mother of Rick, Jim, and Judy. A native Californian, Bob was born in Los Angeles, moved to Sacramento in 1936, married and started a family. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Naval Fire Control Technician. Following the War, he joined Jervis B. Webb Company and came to the Bay Area in1950 as a sales engineer and regional manager. A resident of San Mateo for 57 years, he retired in 1985 after 35 years of service. Following his retirement, he and Dorothy traveled extensively, enjoyed golf, theater, and entertaining. His later years were spent in the company of his family. He took special delight in his 13 great grandchildren, and was a tender guardian of his 11 grandchildren. His affinity for the young was legend among family and friends. His children and their families hold him in highest esteem for the fathering, guidance, and love he gave effortlessly. He blended two families seamlessly; the lines of blood bore no distinction. His legacy includes a strong love of family and passion for life. Big Dad, we carry your legacy forward, you will always be within us. We love you.
