Katherine Jo Risdon

Katherine Jo Risdon, a cherished soul known for her boundless love and zest for life, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at home with her loving family at her side. She was born on September 25, 1960, in Lapeer, Michigan.
Katherine's early years were spent in the nurturing care of her parents, Ray and Irene (Coe) Kowalski. She grew up alongside her sister, Evelyn (Jim) Templeton, in the close-knit community of Columbiaville, Michigan. After graduating from Lakeville High School in 1978, Katherine embarked on a career that would see her dedicate many years of service to Voplex and Metamora Products in Lapeer. Her commitment to her work was unwavering until her well-deserved retirement in 2023.
Throughout her life, Katherine's heart was always fullest when surrounded by her beloved family. She was a devoted mother to Kristopher and Janette Risdon, and her love only multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Katelyn (Alex) Simpson, Ava and Addison Kolonich, KayLynn Ray Risdon, and her great-granddaughter, Hazel Ray Simpson. Katherine's nurturing spirit extended to her loving pets, who were her constant companions and brought her immense joy.
Katherine's passion for life was evident in her love for the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR, with a particular admiration for Dale Earnhardt. Her enthusiasm for these pastimes was infectious, and she enjoyed sharing these interests with friends and family alike. An outdoor enthusiast, Katherine found solace in the beauty of nature. She cherished the tradition of hunting morels with her daughter, a testament to the simple pleasures that she valued most.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Irene Kowalski, and Gary Risdon. Her memory will be forever honored and preserved by her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, sister, and the many lives she touched. As we bid farewell to Katherine Jo Risdon, her spirit will continue to guide us, and her memory will remain a beacon of love and family unity. Katherine's journey on earth has concluded, but the stories, lessons, and love she shared will resonate for generations to come.
