Robert Yard Obituary
Robert L. Yard, 84, passed away on September 30, 2017 in his Toledo home. He was born in Toledo on October 19, 1932 to Rosella and Kenneth Yard. He was married to Mary Fry on October 29, 1966, who preceded him in death.
Bob and his brother were co-owners of a tool and dye shop, called Dray Cutter Grinding, that was started by their father when they were young.
Over the course of his lifetime, Bob and his wife provided 100s of foster children a warm and loving home.
He was a graduate of Mount St. Francis and went on to study the ministry in Northern Rhodesia and became ordained as "Brother John". He was a longtime member of St. Pius X Church.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Lyn, Marybeth Gonzales, Bob Yard; grandchildren, Meeghan Lyn (Scot), Veronica Lee, Alyson Lyn; great-grandchildren, Ily and Pollux; siblings, John (Grace) and Iris. He was preceded in death by siblings, Father Alvin (Carl), Leroy, David, and Kenneth.
Friends are invited to visit from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. where prayers will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Pius X Church. Rev. David Whalen Officiant. Burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to St. Pius X Church, or Our Lady of Consolation Shrine in Carey, Ohio. To send his family online condolences, please visit
