Robert Ziefle Obituary

ZIEFLE

Robert George "Bob"

Our beloved father, Robert "Bob" George Ziefle, passed away on April 5, 2015, at his home in Georgetown, KY.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory is daughter, Marlene Malson; son, Bill (Julianne) Ziefle; daughter, Patricia Ziefle, and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthias Ziefle and Pauline "Frieda" Heilemann Ziefle; his first wife, Irma; his second wife, Esther; his stepson, Wade, and his son-in-law, Dave.

Bob was born on June 11, 1927, in Toledo and after graduation from Libbey High School, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in China during WWII. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering. After a short return to the Marines during the Korean Conflict, Bob took a job with Union Carbide at their South Charleston, WV, Research and Development Center. He was a key member of the team that developed polyethylene. After more than 15 years with Union Carbide, Bob continued his professional contributions supporting the building of polyethylene plants in Saudi Arabia and working with other companies including Fluor and Cities Service. After retiring, Bob enjoyed spending his time with family, fishing, gambling, and bowling. Bob lived his life believing in self-reliance and hard work, a trait he shared with his family and lived every day. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be at the Hixson Funeral Home, 150 Bruce Circle, Moss Bluff, Louisiana, from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8. Services will be at Hixson's on Thursday, April 9 with interment to follow in Ritchie Cemetery.
