Ronald James Coutcher
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ronald James Coutcher, who went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2024 at the age of 82. Ron was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose gentle spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew him.
Ron was born on December 29, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan, to Inez and Chester Coutcher. He played football as a fullback and kicker for the Devilbiss Tigers and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1959, where his team won the city and state championship. During that time, he met his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Karen King, at the age of 15 who became the love of his life. They were married on April 24th, 1960 and recently celebrated 64 years of marriage.
They were blessed with three wonderful children, Douglas, Jennifer and Amy. Ron was a devoted family man who found immense joy in the accomplishments and happiness of his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated husband and father who attended countless school events and always made it possible for the family to have fun-filled and memorable vacations.
Ron worked as a meat cutter for a family business and other large supermarkets. In 1980, he left the meat business and started the Toledo Commercial Maintenance company, serving local businesses. He had a passion to live in Florida after many years of vacationing with his family, so he and Kathy moved to Ocala. Together, they started their own meat market business, where their dreams soon expanded to a second store in Leesburg. Since many grandchildren were being added to the family, they decided to move back to Ohio and soon after retired.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, and golfing. You would often find him making his famous Ron Burgers, steak or ribs on the grill. It was a family tradition to have him carve the ham or turkey during the holidays.
Ron was known for his impeccable work ethic, unwavering dedication, and commitment to excellence and integrity. He would always say, "If it's worth doing, do it right the first time." His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his children, Doug (Darlene) Coutcher, Jennifer (Mark) Wood, and Amy (David) Lindquist; his grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Drew, Adam, Morgan, Jordan, Jenny; his great-grandchildren, Avy, Cody, Lucy, Brody, Ethan, Elliot, Brooks, Madelyn, Remi, Hadley, Thane, and soon to be born, Roselyn; his sister, Maxine Betkey; his brother Kenneth Coutcher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held on June 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Reeb Funeral Home. A visitation will take place on June 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the same location. If you wish to make a donation in Ron's memory, the family suggests that donations be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ronald James Coutcher's memory will forever be a source of strength and inspiration to those who knew him. His gentle spirit, love and dedication to his wife and family will live on as his legacy for generations. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered, but we know we will be reunited again one day. Until then, rest in peace, Ron. We all love you! Online condolences to
