Rosemary Theresa Distel

Rosemary Theresa Distel, 90 of Graytown, OH, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, OH. She was born May 18, 1934, in Bono, OH, to the late Norman and Laura (DeCant) Cousino. She was a 1952 graduate of Clay High School, where she was active in the band and was a candidate for the homecoming court. She was a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Bono, where she met her future husband Jacob Distel whom she married June 26, 1954.

Rosemary worked as a bookkeeper throughout her professional life for Toledo Trust, Lowe Machine Company, and Bob Martin Realty. She would work later, part-time for H&R Block. She loved numbers! She enjoyed dancing, played many different instruments, including the accordion. She loved cooking, canning, and baking. Rosemary also made her own clothes and other items for her family and friends. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed a great small-town Ohio life. Rosemary also enjoyed genealogy, having been able to trace her DeCant roots back to what would become Detroit, MI and Maumee Valley (now Oregon and Toledo, OH).

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Jake Distel, Sr.; sons, Jake (Chad Hewitt/ Jon Hoffer; deceased in 1996) Distel, Jr., Mike (Cindy) Distel, and Dale Distel; grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Snell, Jill Distel, and Jeremy Distel; great-granddaughter, Hazel Snell; and sister, Joan Barraclough. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Cousino.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:30pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel, where family will recite prayers beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Out Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Bono, where family will receive friends at church beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
