Roy Junior



Roy Junior Barnett, having been born of goodly parents, Roy Edgar Barnett and Susie Starks Barnett, died November 29, 2015. Roy was born in Massac County, Illinois on May 11, 1922. He attended Massac County Public Schools and graduated from Joppa Community High School on May 30, 1940. As a youth he helped on the family's 80-acre farm which was located near the banks of the Ohio River in Hillerman, a district of Massac County.

In 1944, Roy moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to live with his Uncle Morris, and got a job at the University Hospital as an orderly. He was inducted into the United States Army and assigned to the 103th Cactus Division, 328th Medical Battalion. Company A sailed on the Marseilles to France. He served as an ambulance driver in France, Germany, and at the end of the war, Italy. He received an honorable discharge from the Army on November 11, 1945, returning to Ann Arbor.

Upon his return to Ann Arbor, Roy got a job at Sears, Roebuck and Company as a salesman at the farm store. It was at Sears that he met his future wife, Jacqueline Rose Webber, who worked in the cashier's office. They were married on June 18, 1948, in the little chapel on the University of Michigan campus and on March 28, 1949, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having joined the church in 1947 in Ann Arbor. He was a faithful member the rest of his life, serving in many callings.

Preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Webber Barnett, Roy is survived by his six children and spouses, Kevin and Judy of Arizona, Dana and Cindy of Wyoming, Darrell and Karen of Indiana, Daniel and Sara of Toledo, Caleb and Tim of Florida and Dallas of Toledo; 13 grandchildren, Carrie, Todd, Wendy, Ian, Hilary, Drew, Jesse, Megan, Chad, Matthew, Danny, Ginger and Daniel James and 27 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his younger sister, Dorothy Jewel Otis of Quincy, Michigan; brother-in-law, Cyrus Jacob Webber (Glenna) of Westland, Michigan; brother-in-law, Richard Carlos Webber (Jackie) of Carmichael, Cali-fornia, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.br/>
Visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1545 Eastgate Road at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
