Ruth D'CLUTE Obituary

D'CLUTE Ruth Caroline (Gardner) Ruth Caroline (Gardner) D'Clute went home to her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. She was born in her parent's home in Helena, Ohio on April 12, 1938. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1961, and devoted her life to her faith and her family. Ruth started Genoa's first nursery school at St. Johns United Church of Christ and taught summer migrant school. She retired from Genoa Area Schools after over thirty years of service as a teacher. Following retirement, she fulfilled a lifelong dream to work in the missionary field by teaching at Pan American Christian Academy in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Upon returning from Brazil she relaxed by volunteering at New Harvest Christian Church in Oregon, Ohio, clowning, puppet ministry, face painting, hosting Bible study in her home, hospitality ministry, nursing home visitation, and teaching Sunday school. Ruth considered herself to be a blessed mother, and her children considered themselves blessed to have such a loving family matriarch and spiritual guide. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, Theodora Gardner and father, Robert Gardner; brothers, Richard Gardner and Donald Gardner, and son, Daniel D'Clute. Surviving are Ruth's sister, Linda (Charles) Cherry, and sons, Dave (Robin) D'Clute, Donald (Becky) D'Clute, daughter-in-law, Deena D'Clute, and daughters, Teri (Ted) Fisher, and Tami (Steve) Heritage; nephews, Kirk (Wendy) Gardner, Ken (Jody) Gardner, Todd (Emily) Gardner, Jay (Susie) Gardner, Trent (Stacey) Gardner, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Ruth chose to donate her body for scientific research at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Visitation will be at New Harvest Christian Church at 3540 Seaman Road in Oregon, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 22, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at New Harvest on Wednesday, June 23, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Northwest of Ohio (http://www.hospicenwo.org/), OC International Ministries in care of Dave Kornfield (http://www.onechallenge.org/), or New Harvest Christian Church (http://www.nhccoh.org/) Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Ruth D'Clute on Facebook or email [email protected]

Ruth and I met at the rehab pool at St. Charles. She always had a smile and a kind word. It wasn't hard to see that she was a dedicated missionary whether here or in the mission field. She's earned her spot in heaven...no more worry or pain. Just everlasting celebration with her God and Savior.
May wonderful and loving memories comfort you.

As I look around this world in which we are bound, the colors don't seem to be as bright, the sky doesn't seem as blue, and the sun isn't shinning as grandly as it once did....I turn to my Father and ask why the change?....He said to me....My beloved child has finished her race and come home to Me to receive her reward. For you see my child was special, everywhere she walked she brought the light of my love....and that light made everything alittle brighter and grander.....I asked my Father, will this world always be this dimished now that she is gone?.................He spoke ever so gently, no, in time the love that that she gave so freely will grow in those she deposited it in and once again the brilliance that has been dulled with her parting will be restored, even brighter than before.

God's love and grace keep you until you see the brilliance return to your lives

We praise the Lord for Ruth's life of ministry. She was a faithful and dedicated teacher while at Pan American Christian Academy (PACA) in Brazil. It was a joy to work with her during her years at PACA and we appreciated her willingness to make the sacrifice to be separated from her family, even after retirement, to serve in Brazil. May the Lord's comfort and blessing be with Ruth's entire family during this time of loss. Mike Epp (PACA Director while Ruth served in Brazil)

Thursday evenings with Mrs.Ruth were very special to Zach. A mother knows her son adores someone when he mistakenly calls her "Grandma". She will always have a special place in our hearts.

Linda and all of Ruth's family, Thanks so much for calling me. I was so shocked and saddened by the news and of Donald too. I wish we could have gotten together one more time. But how time slips away. You are all in my prayers and thoughts. I so enjoyed her newsletter every Christmas. What a precious wonderful sister and mother and grandmother she was to you all. I will be praying for you all during this time. I know she was very very loved and will be missed very much. Oh how I wish I could have talked to Ruth one more time I am sure Ruth and Momma and Theodore and Stanley and Donald and Marilyn and Dan are all having a good time in Heaven remembering old times. Please let's keep in touch.
With much love,
Your cousin,

Working with Ruth was a joy! She even had before school started bible studies for any teacher who wanted to come to her room. She brought courage to all of us to share the love of the LORD to everyone we meet. What a dear and precious friend she was...I'll miss her.
