Sam was a great kid. He was a people person and everyone loved him. I've known him since kindergarten, and i've watched him change over the years. He was always the class clown that made everybody laugh. When you look back on it Sam would be the one to say: "I wouldn't want people to cry for me when i'm gone, i'd want them to know i was ok and in a better place." He will be missed by many.

To the Macke Family,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Sam's tragic death. As his former Director at TTA, I remember Sam as a bright and energetic young man with great potential for future success. My prayers are with each of you as you struggle to make sense of his sudden loss, and try to move forward each day. Sam will be truly missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew him. Dear Vince, Tina and Family,
When the paramedic that treated Sarah at the accident called me, I was so scared that I'd lost my "baby". I was shaking so hard that it was hard to comprehend everything she was telling me. She said Sarah, Alison and Zach were ok, but that Sam didn't make it. Everything else was a blurr. I couldn't believe that the young man that my daughter spent the last three years with, would not be walking in our door. You all kept apologizing to me, but you were the ones that lost your "baby" and brother! My heart and prayers go out to you. I will never forget how Sam (and your whole family) treated Sarah like a princess. Sarah's injuries will heal, but her broken heart will remember Sam forever. Sarah's Mom, Toni Kinner

dear sam's family and friends
i don't know what else to say then sorry about sam's death, i am one of sam friends, knowing him just a month or two playing d & d with him at neil's a couple of times and going to maumee bay with him, sarah and my boyfriend at the time. I can't believe that his really gone but he will always be in our hearts forever. i can't imagin what you as sam's family are going though but i know he is in a better place now and he will always look down from heaven to watch his family go on till his family joins again next to god. i will always pray for your family and for sam. he was a really great guy and fun to be around. i hope sarah is doing better,if u can tell her that i will always be here if she needs to talk. you can give her my email address, she knows where i live too. once again i am sorry for your lost. god bless and take care.

Hello all, this is Vince Macke, Sam's dad.Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. I hoped I never would have to be doing something like this, and all the love and support we have been getting is the only thing that allows me to go on. I loved him dearly and he deserved better than what he recieved out there. Live and love strong, keep a happy thought in your heart, and never let Sam out of it!

What all can I say about Sam? He was everything everyone wanted in a friend and more. He was my only friend in English this past year for a while and he came to my house a lot just to hang out. Whenever i had a bad day and everyone else ignored me, Sam knew there was something wrong so he would always force me to talk or just do something goofy to cheer me up.
Since we have the same birthday, I will make sure to so something special for him. He will truly be missed and my condolensenses are sent to his family. He is in a better place now. God Bless

Sam was an awesome friend from school. One of the first friends i made last year at start. (05-06).
He was friends with everybody and never hated anybody for any reason. He was such a great person, always talked about how much he loves Sarah and his family.
He also carried around a pic of his brother..telling people "thats my brother". We knew he looked up to his brother. He is going to be missed dearly.With my condolence's,

I just met Macke this year, in sociology class. He always liked to joke around and make people laugh. You can definitly say there was never a dull moment when he was around.
I remember he would sit in class playing around with his graph calculator. I had to have him teach me how to use it, even when, i never understood it. Or when he would come to school with a his belt that he made out of a seat belt.
Even though I did not known Sam "Macke" that long, he sure does make an impact in your life, so you'll never forget him.

I stayed with your son until he was covered with dirt, I never wanted to leave Sam's side because I know that if it was me or any of his loved ones he'd be there till the end. I'll never forget the day Sam first held my son, it was surprising cause most younger guys dont care too much for babies, but Sam held him, played with him, and helped Sarah feed him and of course my son decided to spit up all over him!!! Sam was one of the greatest guys I've ever met and I think a little piece of everyone died that day and he will be truely missed...***Sorry I didn't get to make it to say goodbye Sam, me and Adyn miss you***

Sam was a good friend of mine during his time at TTA. He used to walk over to my bus stop in the mornings, and we used to mess with Jaz, those were good times. He will truly be missed. You don't realize how much a person means to you untill there gone. We may not have talked much in the past year, but we were still friends none the less. I will always have photos of Sam in my mind - the picture of him at 5 years old eating a peanut butter sandwich and the bread sticking to the roof of his mouth, the sparkle in his eyes, his adorably mischievous grin, his brave little face when he cut open his arm falling out of a tree. Sam was one of my first real friends, it's honestly because of him that I am who I am today. I'll always thank him for that. I loved Sam ever since I've known him and we've both helped each other through a lot. He has always been a brother to me and always will be. Nobody can compare to Sam and nobody can ever replace him. Sam was my very first friend at Toledo Technology Academy. I remember the first day clearly. I was on the bus just pulling up to school and on the bus ahead of me, some weird kid was standing up with a bright pink belt. Later, I learned they called him Macke. He befriended me and introduced me to a group of others, known as the Cosbys.
Sam was an amazing person. He and I talked for hours on end about pointless things. We used to be pretty close, he came to me with things he needed advice on, and vice versa. Though in the past year, we both fell away from each other, he will still be sincerely missed.
I love you Macke. You were a great person.
