You have my deepest sympathy. Scott was an amazing young man! Always so kind and respectful towards me and my late husband, Rick. He was a great friend to my son, Michael. Through experience I know there are no words I can offer to take away your pain, but it helps to know that others care and are keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. I am so happy to have known Scott. He touched many, many lives by his kindness and he will be greatly rewarded in Heaven. I am keeping you all in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Gillen family. I worked with Scott a few years back and he was always there for everyone who needed anything. He was very kind and funny. He will be missed. He was a face many people knew in Toledo working the doors in the clubs and always polite. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Nancy and Joe,

I was saddened to read of Scott's death; frankly hoped it wasn't the family I met so many years ago at Fairgreen Nursery School.

I can only imagine your feelings of loss; having children, myself, who are now young adults.

Parents should not have to bury their children.
My thoughts are with you.

Nancy, Joe and Michael...our families have been intertwined for ages. Scott and I were together all through elementary school on up to graduating high school. He was always so quiet and reserved. I pray that he is sitting with our Lord now and all his pain is wiped clean. May God carry you through this time and may you all find peace in Him alone. We pray for you. Malena Mudse and family

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Gillen and Michael,

I wanted to offer you my most heartfelt condolences on the loss of Scott.

I was so shocked and saddened when I heard about Scott's sudden passing and still find it hard to believe the he's left us.
Scott and I worked for several years together at Gator'z where I had the honor to get to know him and count him among my friends.
Scott's charactor, integrity, good sense of humor, and his selfless willingness to put himself in harm's way not only for patrons, but me and the rest of the staff were just a few of the things that really seperated him from many others. This was why I liked him so much. I always looked at him as the kind of guy I'd want alongside me in a foxhole because he was a loyal person.
Although the establishment's closing sent us on our separate ways, we'd still try to catch up whenever we could, but sadly this wasn't as often as I would have liked. I really wish I could turn back time and would have made it a bigger point to see him more. But I always felt that we had the kind of friendship where no matter how much time would pass, it'd be like we could pick up right were we left off.

Please know, Gillen Family, that your son and brother was very well liked and respected by many and was a kind, considerate, hard-working, and caring. You raised a good son that was a good person that I hope you'll always be proud of. I will definitely miss his good cheer and smiling face, but I'll never forget him.
