Sondra Bockbrader Obituary

BOCKBRADER Sondra A. (Kurfis) Sondra A. (Kurfis) Bockbrader, 61, of Perrysburg, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Sondra was born June 8, 1944, in Toledo to Edward M. and Lucille (Shufelt) Kurfis and was a 1962 graduate of Rossford High School. She graduated from Stautzenberger Business College in 1964 and was married to James G. Bockbrader on May 16, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge. For over ten years, Sondra was a merchandising supervisor for American Greetings where she covered the Northwest Ohio Region and then for five years, worked as a cashier for Churchills at their Perrysburg location. When her sons were young, she coordinated the concession stand for their little league games. She enjoyed cross-stitching, camping, spending time at the family cottage on Jimmerson Lake in Indiana, and most of all being "Nanny" to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Kimberly S. (Cartho) Bennett of Perrysburg; sons, Michael A. (Kathy) Bockbrader of Hilliard, Ohio and Timothy J. (Nettie) Bockbrader of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Brandon and Valerie Bennett, Courtney and Caitlyn Bockbrader and Luke, Lance, Lincoln and Ava Bockbrader; mother, Lucille Kurfis of Perrysburg; sister, LaDonna (Tom) Lucas of Luckey, Ohio; brother, Tom (Diane) Kurfis of Perrysburg and mother-in-law, Ruth Bockbrader of Perrysburg. Her father, Edward Kurfis, preceded her in death. Friends will be received from 2-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Visitation will continue after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at First United Methodist Church, W. Second St. and Walnut Street in Perrysburg until the funeral service, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Terry Powell officiating. Burial will be in New Belleville Ridge Cemetery, Dowling, Ohio. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. John's Lutheran Church.

We could hardly believe it when we received the horrible news of Sondy's passing. She was one of my mother's favorite cousins, and losing her has made us all terribly sad. Her mother, husband, children and grandchildren are in our prayers.
