Sophie Stopera Obituary

STOPERA Sophie Irene (Sniegowski) Sophie Irene (Sniegowski) Stopera, age 84, of the Polish Village, Toledo, passed away March 24, 2008. She was born in Toledo March 30, 1923 to Walter and Stella (Jackimiack) Sniegowski. Sophie worked at Cameo, Inc. for 30 years. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary #5530, the Jude Thaddeus Catholic War Vets #1675, St. Hedwig Senior Citizens Club and a life member of St. Francis Guild. Sophie was a loving mother, Busia and Great Busia. She enjoyed being with her family, playing bingo, watching tennis and was always happy when she was scratching off bingo lottery tickets. Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Joey; grandsons, J.J. and Will, and sister, Rose Spitulski. She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Dinny), Tim (Debi) and daughter Jean (Bob) Kaminski, nine grandchildren; twelve great-grand-children, and brother, David Przybylski. Friends may call in the Urbanski Funeral Home, 2907 LaGrange at Dexter St., (419) 244-4611, on Thursday, March 27, 2007 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 4:00 p.m. and a Catholic War Vets Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday with closing prayers in the funeral home and continue at 11:00 with a Funeral Mass at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Interment will be held privately at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

I will fondly remember Sophie and all our good times spent at the VFW.
It was such a pleasure to receive her weekly letters and to stay in touch after I moved to Florida.
My condolences to her family...she was a great friend and I will miss her letters in my mailbox.
