Stanley WEBER Obituary

WEBER Stanley Ray Stanley Ray Weber, age 85, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away on Saturday evening, January 8, 2011. He was born in a farmhouse in Pettisville, Ohio, on July 28, 1925, to Andrew and Inez (Waldvogel) Weber. Stan served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served as a cook in Hawaii. After the war Stan attended four years of college at Bowling Green State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. It was there that he met his future wife, Avelda Ruth "Dolly" Johnson and they married on August 22, 1948. In the early 50's, Stan spent time playing professional basketball for the Waterloo (Iowa) Hawks. He also traveled with the Harlem Globetrotters. Stan forged a thirty year career teaching math, coaching basketball, track and cross country at Rossford Junior High and High Schools. Stan professed faith in Christ at the age of fifteen. He faithfully attended Lewis Avenue Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a witness for Christ and lived a righteous example before his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, church family and the community. His legacy is that of an ordinary man, despite his natural flaws and certain endearing eccentricities. He was a loving and faithful husband, a devoted father, a beloved grandfather, a sincere Christian, an excellent teacher and coach, an exemplary citizen, a compassionate friend and an all-around tenderhearted, humble, kind, unassuming and ever-hopeful human being. Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Avelda "Dolly" Weber; sons, Greg (Jennifer) Weber and Ron (Marcia) Weber; daughter, Ruth (John) Klempner; 13 grandchildren, Angie (Steve) Hobbins, Daniel (Chelsey) Weber, David (Sandra) Weber, Julie (Joe) Hagans, Stephanie (Joel) Bixler, Todd (Jaclynn) Weber, Johnathan (Amanda) Klempner, Audrey Weber, Joanna Klempner, Justin Klempner, Erica Weber, Andrew Weber and Roxana Klempner. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd., on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Steve Hobbins officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.sujkowskirossford.com

My heartfelt sympathy for the Weber family. I had Mr. Weber as a math teacher in the 7th grade and math has always been my favorite subject.Every job I have ever had, has had to deal with numbers. There will never be another teacher to teach math as Mr. Weber had.May all your joyous memories help heal the hurt your heart is feeling and know that he is now in a better home.

I am so sorry about your family's loss. I had Mr. Weber as a teacher in Rossford. I loved to hear his stories about playing against the Globetrotters. His love for math helped me to decide to major in math in college.

We heard about Bro. Stan's passing from our son, James, in Colorado and were saddened but also gladdened to know he is with our LORD of whom he served many many years. Isn't it great to know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD! My Dad, Bro. Arnold Leach, always said, "the greatest heritage you can leave your children is knowing you are in Heaven when you leave this world."
We are praying for you.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Weber, who was a strong influence in my life at a very early age. Have fond memmories of him both in the classroom and watching and listening to him throughout the years at Rossford High. Great memories of palying softball in the yard as a child and then showing his famous "hook Shot" when competing at the house with Greg,Ron and the neighbors. My sincerest sympathies to the entire Weber family.

I am sorry for your loss. I truly respected Mr. Weber and he helped push me when I had him as a teacher in 7th grade. It is of no surprise that math would thereafter be my favorite subject and I truly owe that to him.

I was very fortunate to have Mr Weber as a coach and a math teacher. He was always fair and firm. If I didn't do the right thing, he'd tell me he'd put his 14's up my maximus gluteus. He said that when he stopped talking to me then he stopped caring. On that note I say "Thank You Mr Weber" for giving me direction. My sincere sympathy to the Weber family. RHS Class of 1969 . . .

To the Entire Weber Family,
We are all saddened by your loss. We had the honor of not only knowing Mr. Weber the teacher but Mr. Weber the neighbor. We all have fond memories of running track around the cornfield, basketball games (around the world), softball in the lot, midnight ghost throughout the neighborhood (he always won), playing school in the basement and so much more. These memories along with the memories that you have made, will forever live in our hearts. Rest in Peace Mr. Weber.
God Bless all of you.

To the Weber Family, It was with much sadness that I received the news this afternoon of the passing of "Mr Weber". As a young boy growing up across the street I would watch expectantly as he would coach and work with Greg and Ron at the basketball goal on the side of the garage, all while I was waiting for the opportunity to be coached myself. Those days did come as I often would wander over to knock on the back door to ask for permission to play in their driveway, which was always granted. Although Mr. Weber was never an 'official' coach of mine I learned quite a lot while playing in that driveway.
His larger than life personality fit his stature and it suited him well as a 7th grade math teacher. Always strong yet always fair. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful person with the rest of us. He obviously touched a lot of us and will be missed by many. My sincerest sympathies and condolences for your loss. Peace to you all. Michael Masnyk Jr. (RHS Class of 1980)

We were lucky to be taught and coached by Mr. Weber. He treated everyone equally and fairly. He brought out the maximum potential in all three of us, both in the classroom and on the track. The lessons of hard work have served us well in later life. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Mr. Weber (Stanley) as we called him was one of my most favorite teachers and the best coach I ever had!! I do beleive the faith he had in me as a young runner truely brought out the very best of me when I ran. He pushed me to limits I never thought I could acheive. He was a very fair man and demanded respect from all his students.

During the 58-59 Toledo Federation basketball season I played against Stan in a game. We were both inside players and I remember exchanging a few shoves and verbal exchanges during the game while fighting for rebounds, all part of the game. My friend Cal Christensen always spoke well of Stan. I never met Stan but in the late 90's or early 2000's it was either Greg or Ron who did some painting for our son Casey and later for my wife Jan and me for our home. I was so impressed with the Weber son and excuse me for not remembering the exact name. My wife Jan and I extend our condolences to the Weber family. Dolly, my friend Jack Breese told me you were his very best PE teacher he ever had during his tenure as principal at Josephine Fassett Junior High School. I e-mailed Jack, told him to look for Stan's obituary. Like Cal, I was a UT Rocket basketball player.

Dear Weber Family,

While I never had the honor of being taught or coached by Mr. Weber, I certainly felt the impression he left upon my older siblings and parents who all speak highly and fondly of him. He will be remembered long after his passing with admiration and respect. My sincerest sympathy to the family.

Dear Weber Family. I am sorry for you loss. How could I ever forget Mr. Weber, I was in his class when President Kennedy was shot. Mr. Weber pushed a TV into the room for us all to watch. Each time I remember President Kennedy I think of Mr. Weber. A wonderful teacher and coach. I wish I had known he went to Lewis church as I visited there last year. This picture is exactly how I remember him. Nice to know he is rejoicing with Jesus. God's healing grace and love to the family.

I was on Rossford's very first girl's cross country team coached by Mr. Weber. He was my 7th grade math teacher as well. There wasn't a better teacher, coach or human being then Mr. Weber. He was strong and gentle at the same time. I especially appreciated the respect and enthusiasm he had for girl's sports and his female athletes at a time when they were just beginning prominence in high school sports. I have thought fondly of Mr. Weber over the years. The Weber family's loss is certainly heavens gain.

Such a wonderful teacher and man of God. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. I have never met anyone who could remember a persons name even after 20+ years. He truly was a kind gentle giant of a man. He treated everyone equally and fairly. He brought out the potential in all his students where it be in his class room or on the field while running track. His students truly had respect for this man. Our loss is heavens gain. I will miss you Mr Weber, until we meet again.

Stan encouraged both his classroom students and his athletes by showing them how to emphasize their strong points. All my late 1950s memories of him are "keepers."

I was saddedned to hear of the passing of one of the Lord's tough and gruff, but fairest angels in Mr. Weber (I always had to much respect for him to ever call him Stan). As a mentor, coach and teacher of me through Jr and Sr High at Rossford High School, I learned many things about life from him that came out later in my life, my faith being one of them. He kept a Bible on his desk in Math Class and weilded it always for our good (even when we were to young to understand). He encouraged and directed my athletic efforts all the way through Jr and Sr High and helped me obtain many awards as a result of this encouragement. A tear was in my eye as I read his Obituary and saw how many other's lives he touched so profoundly (not surprising) like mine in such a quiet way.

Mr. Weber was my math teacher and cross country coach. His teaching and coaching style, emphasizing responsibility, accountability, hard work, and an undying reliance on our Good Lord, live with me to this day. I try to incorporate his mannerisms and lessons into my classroom, as Mr. Weber is a big reason why I'm a teacher today. Mr. Weber has my unending gratitude for the lessons learned in the classroom and on the cross country course 30+ years ago, and I pray that our Good Lord will continue to bless the Weber family.

I have always had the greatest respect for Stan Weber as a fellow teacher, coach, and man. I treasured his friendship and regret hearing of his passing.
Some of my fondest memories was a couple of summers painting classrooms with Don Jackson and Stan. His high level of energy and humor made the experience not only profitable, but fun.
My sincere sympathies to his family.

We just picked up the death notice while in Mexico and we were very saddened to hear of his passing. Stan was an outstanding mentor for Ed during his time at Rossford. Ed and Stan coached together and became good friends and remained friends during Ed's career. He was a great mentor for Ed and we are sorry we can't be there. You have our deepest sympathy. God Bless the Weber family. Ed and Linda Reiter. Pam Long is here with us and also sends her sympathy.
