Stephen Toth Obituary
Stephen John Toth, age 87, passed away on January 17, 2023. Graduate from Central Catholic High School class of 1954, where he also played Varsity Basketball and was chosen as the MVP of the Ohio High School Regional tournament his senior year. Steve retired with 35 years of service with Chrysler spending most of those years as a Supervisor at the Toledo machine plant and was formally employed with LOF Glass. Steve was a Parishioner of Saint Stephens Catholic Church Toledo, OH, was an Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, a past member Oregonian Club, Maumee Elks, a 2001 inductee, and a Board Member of the Birmingham Hall of Fame. Most recently Steve was a parishioner at Saint Brendan Catholic Church, Hilliard, OH.
Steve was the former Republican Mayor of Oregon, OH 1981 and 1982. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians/Guardians, and OSU Buckeyes. He loved to bowl and was a bowling instructor at the Toledo Sports Center for many years. He also enjoyed all the camping trips with the family up at Clarks Lake where many beautiful memories were made with family and friends. He enjoyed helping his wife, Mitzie, with her porcelain doll-making. He also loved spending time with his 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren!
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna (Magyar) Toth; and son, Thomas Toth. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mitzie; children, Gary (Jeannine) Toth, Kim (Mel) Sims, Greg (Catie) Toth; his brother, Robert (Laura) Toth; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Driscoll, Matthew (Allison), Mary (Blaine) West, Elizabeth, John, Rikki (Kyle) McDaniel, Riley (Hope), Veronica Sims, Abbey (Jimmy) Donatelli, and Emma; great-grandchildren, Braydon, Noah, Weston, and Declan Driscoll, Hunter and Evan Toth and Warren and Isla Toth.
A celebration of life mass will be held Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Saint Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, 4475 Dublin Road, Hilliard, OH, 43206 at 10:30 a.m. Please deliver all flowers to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epiphany of our Lord (Saint Stephens Parish), 1880 Genesee Street, Toledo OH, 43605, or Saint Brendan Catholic Church, Hilliard OH. My sincerest condolence to the Toth family. Boy Scouts at St. Stephen's brought alot of loving people together. Mr. and Mrs. Toth drove me and and your family to a campsite. Funny how that beautiful memory stayed with me . Mr. Toth singing as sunshine filled the car as did love. My prayers are with you all, Butch Harris
