Dear Danette, I was employed with Steven on the ships for several years. He was a good shipmate and I always enjoyed he times we worked together. I helped Steve study for his mate’s licenses and was glad to hear when he passed his exams. His conversations regarding you and the family helped influence my decision to become engaged. I hoped that Steve and you could come to our wedding and attempted to call Steve in January. I had no idea that Steve was ill and I can only offer my deepest and heart felt condolences to you and the children for your loss. I am very sorry I cannot attend the funeral. However, I will keep you in my thoughts. My deepest sympathies.
