Steven Wagner Obituary

Steven "Steve" J. Wagner

Steven "Steve" J. Wagner, age 51, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 14, 2023 in his home. He was born on October 25, 1971 in Toledo, Ohio to Carl and Kathryn (Timiney) Wagner.

He attended St. Hedwig Catholic Grade School, Central Catholic High School (1990) and the University of Findlay (1994) where he played baseball. Steve was very proud to have been recently inducted in the Central Catholic Hall of Fame as a member of the District Champions 1989 Baseball Team.

Professionally, Steve had many accomplishments in the Credit Union, banking and finance industry. Most recently, he worked as the CEO of the University of Toledo Federal Credit Union since 2010.

Steve was a diehard supporter of CCHS, the Toledo Rockets, the University of Michigan and the Dallas Cowboys. He also had a love and passion for coaching his children's sports, supporting his daughter's dance, golfing in his league at the South Toledo Golf Club and in his younger years, playing softball, which introduced him to many of his lifelong friends. Steve was a loyal friend and was known for making people laugh and will be greatly missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Wagner; his mother, Kathryn (Timiney) Wagner; sister, Angela Wagner; and brother, Daniel Wagner.

He is survived by his children, Tyler, Josie and Bryce Wagner; brothers, Don (Brandie) Wagner and Chris (Gretchen) Wagner; and sisters, Christine Anello and Barb Gerken. He is also survived by many loving aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews; and friends whom he cherished deeply.

Services will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 12-6 p.m. at the Reeb Funeral Home at 5712 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio. Service will be held at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations, in lieu of flowers, made to the Central Catholic Baseball Program or the Central Catholic Irish Dance Team, which he dedicated many hours to watching his children participate in.

Thoughts and prayers to the Wagner family. May God bless you and give you strength during this difficult time. I knew the Wagner family at St. Hedwig´s school. I went to school with his older brother Dan, but also knew the rest of his family. Years later, whoever would have known that our lives would meet up again as our boys attended St. Joan of Arc together and also played sports. Steve has a great family and will be missed by many. RIP Steve

My condolences to Steve´s family. I coached Wags for Gasirowski´s Memorial baseball team in the 4th Ward. Wags was an outstanding 2nd baseman and all around great guy. He will be sorely missed. God´s grace to his soul and to his family.

My condolences to the family. As his 8th grade teacher at St Hedwig School I remember Steve as a great kid, a born leader, always doing his best at whatever he was involved in. I wish more students would have been like him.

Dear Steve's Children & Family

I knew Steve initially as the younger brother to Dan (we went to CCHS together '85) but got to know Steve really well when he coached my son's travel baseball team (with Tyler). We had so many fun weekends! Steve will be missed and I'm saying prayers for everyone during this difficult time

Countless great memories coaching our boys together for 5 years. Steve taught me much of what I know about the game of baseball and we could talk for hours about it. I pass along his knowledge to young men that I still coach. I´ll miss you Wags!
