Susan Smith Obituary
Susan R. Smith, affectionately known as Sue, age 78, of Whitehouse, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, October 28, 2021, at McLaren St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee. She was the only child to Howard and Ruth (Hunter) Winter on December 14, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio. Sue married William "Bill" Smith on August 27, 1960, he preceded her in death on June 24, 2010.
Sue worked as a floral designer for Paul's Flower Shop in Swanton for 30 years. She was a charter member of the Swanton Elks Lodge #2462 and Daughter's of American Legion Swanton Post #479. Sue was a very talented tole and china painter. She looked forward to having coffee and breakfast with friends and playing cards during the week.
Sue is survived by her sons, Timothy Smith and Terence (Sharon) Smith; grandchildren, Rob (Nikki) Ellis, Jerry (Whitney) Blevins, Lauren (Ben) Lewandowski, Hannah (Ryan) Gilmore, Chloe and Maddie Smith; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jake, Sophia, Ellis and Ascher.
Besides Bill, her husband of 49 years, Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 1st, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Services will be held Tuesday, November 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
