Thomas Cavese Obituary

Thomas M. Cavese

Thomas M. Cavese, 88, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away on December 9, 2025, at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. Born on March 29, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, Tom was the son of Carlo and Virginia (Cipriani) Cavese. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1955, and went on to build a long and dedicated career with Chrysler-Jeep, retiring in 1991 as a warranty engineer.

Tom met the love of his life, Marian Davis, at a restaurant in Oregon, Ohio. Their connection was immediate and enduring, and the two were married on October 10, 1959, at Holy Rosary Church in Toledo. Together, they shared 66 years of love, partnership, and adventure.

Tom took pride in repairing anything that needed fixing and enjoyed maintaining cars. He was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends. Time spent at the family cottage on Lake Seneca was especially cherished, providing years of memories and gathering moments. Tom also enjoyed working on the Holy Rosary Spaghetti Dinner. He and the people he worked with always had a great time fundraising for the church over the years.

Tom had a passion for golf, both playing and watching, and enjoyed participating in leagues. He particularly enjoyed Chippewa and Inverness golf courses. He was also an enthusiastic follower of the Cleveland Guardians. Among his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Together, Tom and Marian traveled extensively across the United States and around the globe. Their journeys took them to Italy to visit family, as well as to South America, Europe, Hawaii, Egypt, Turkey, the Grand Canyon, various National Parks, and along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway, among other destinations.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Faye Suthers and Mary Catherine Wooley; and his children, Kristin and Joseph Cavese. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marian; his son, Patrick "Rick" (Julie) Cavese; grandchildren, Lindsey (Andy) Scherting and Daniel (Brittany) Cavese; great-grandchildren, Colin, Eloise, Magnolia, and Theo Scherting; and a baby boy Cavese on the way.

Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 14, 2025, with a rosary prayer at 7:00 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home - Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, Ohio 43616. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, December 15, 2025, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations in Tom's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Cardinal Stritch Catholic School (https://cardinalstritch.org/donate/), or St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

My sincere condolences to Tom's family reading of his passing. He was one of the kindest and caring persons I have ever known. His sense of humor was such a delight. I met Tom as one of the owners of my appt complex Copper Cove and waited on him and his lovely wife when they came in to dine at Chris Berman's Supper Club...His journey on this earth is over but he has eternity in heaven!!!!!
