Thomas Joseph Grabowski, Sr.

Thomas Joseph Grabowski, passed away on August 1, 2022, after a brief illness.

Tom was married to Jane Smithmyer Grabowski (deceased 2003) for 44 years. After her passing, he married Shirley Niese Grabowski (in 2009) who survives.

He was a devoted father to Thomas (Diane) Jr. of Lake Forest, WA, Jeffrey, Morristown, N.J., Christopher (Steven) Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mary (Shawn Mick), Portland, OR and Anne (Richard) Burda, Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his extended family, Stephen (Robin) and Martin (Carol) Niese; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bronislaw and Florence (Fialkoski) Grabowski.

He was born in 1935 in Toledo, OH and was raised in the Polish community. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and Purdue University where he received a dual Master's degree in Civil Engineering and Industrial Management and was a member of Delta Epsilon Fraternity and the ROTC. Tom also attended business classes at Harvard University.

Tom began his career with the Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, OH and was promoted to Plant Manager in Fayetteville, AR, Sacramento and Modesto, CA facilities. He retired from Corporate Headquarters of Campbell's in Camden, N.J. in 1990 and moved with Jane to Stone Oak in Holland, OH.

He was the Commander of the Napoleon Ohio National Guard and Exaulted Ruler of Elks Lodge 929. As a devout catholic, he volunteered at Our Lady of Lourdes Soup Kitchen in Holland, OH and served on the Social committee at St. Bernadette's in Port St. Lucie, FL. He also volunteered as a greeter and usher at Sunrise Theater in Florida and enjoyed the famous entertainers.

Tom and Shirley divided their time between Napoleon and Port St. Lucie, FL. The Florida home with its beautiful views of water and the PGA Golf Course provided endless enjoyment living the Florida lifestyle. Later in life, he also enjoyed traveling to worldwide locations in India, Thailand, Poland and numerous European cities. He enjoyed his friends, specialty wine, beer and loved good food.

Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43614 on Wednesday, August 3rd from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4th beginning at 9:45 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church (Assumption), 2649 US-20, Swanton, OH 43558 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date.
