Thomas Joyce Obituary
Thomas H. Joyce, 68, of Sylvania, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 17, 2022, at the University of Michigan Hospital. Tom was a man of humility and grace, holding himself and others to the highest standards. He was born to Boots and Lu Joyce on September 3, 1953, in Ferndale, MI. He grew up in Clawson, MI, excelling in high school sports. A southpaw pitcher, he attended University of Michigan on a baseball scholarship, graduating with a degree in Education. He went on to play 2 seasons in the Chicago White Sox Minor League system. He then led a successful career at GM Powertrain, with the majority of his career at Toledo Powertrain. Tom spent his retirement years between his home in Sylvania, OH and his cottage in Grayling, MI. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Tom and Jan, met in junior high and never looked back. They married in 1975, having 3 beautiful children: son, Timothy (Becky) Joyce, of Grand Haven, MI, 2-year-old twins, Aidan and Aine; daughter, Erin Joyce and partner Steve Klein of Delray Beach, FL; daughter, Kelly (Chaz) Alcorn of Sylvania, OH, Charlie 10, Avery 8 and Drew 6.
He is also survived by his mother, Luella (Dreon) Joyce; siblings, Duane (Cathie) Joyce, Jayne (Steve) Dunseith, and Marji (John) Oberer. He was preceded in death by his father, Boots Joyce.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, from 3pm-8pm and funeral Wednesday, August 24, 2022, 11 am at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH. Memorials suggested to Red Cross (ps://redcross.org ), NPR (https://npr.org) or Arbor Day Foundation ( ttps://arborday.org ). Online condolences to

Had I known about this. I definitely would have been there. Tom was a great friend to me. Sorry. I would have loved to connect with him. But never had the chance to do so.
