Thomas Olander Obituary

Thomas J. Olander

May 1, 1939 - March 6, 2024

Thomas J. Olander, 84, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away on March 6th, 2024. He was born on May 1st, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio to Lawrence and Victoria (Chudzinski) Olander. Tom graduated from Central Catholic High school in 1957 and attended Kent State University. Tom served honorably in the US Army and married Sandra Durant, the love of his life in 1967. They spent 57 years together and raised 5 children. Tom's early years were spent as a draftsman at Toledo Scale. That led to a 25-year career with The Ford Motor company that ended with his work in employee involvement and quality. Tom was dedicated to his family and faith and was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sylvania.

Tom was a passionate fan of the Buckeyes, Lions, Tigers, Rockets, Fighting Irish and Red Wings. He loved the game of golf. The only thing he liked more, was making people laugh, for which he excelled with his own dry sense of humor.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Keith (Kathleen), Kevin, Chris, (Michelle), Keri (Jason) and Craig; sister, Barbara Hallock; grandchildren, Preston and Jaeden. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Jack Durant; cousin, Stanley Chudzinski; and nephew Donald Olejnik Jr.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, March 13th from 2- 8 p.m. at Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. I remember Tom from our Employee Involvement days. He had a good humor and was always fun to talk with. May God Bless him.
