Troy Estes Obituary
January 25, 1968 - November 5, 2024
Troy D. Estes passed away November 5, 2024, at the age of 56, in Petoskey, MI, after a long illness. He was born on Mackinac Island on January 25, 1968, to James and Jennifer (Horn) Estes. He was a 1986 graduate of Lasalle High School in St. Ignace, MI, and a 1997 graduate of The University of Toledo.
Troy married Laura Zielinski on June 20, 1992, and together they raised their son, Stephen.
While at UT, Troy worked for Burlington Air Express. He then taught for several schools including Clay High School and the Autism Academy. In 2001 he was awarded the Ohio GED Outstanding Teacher NW Region award.
He was a Scoutmaster for Blessed Sacrament Boy Scouts Troop 88 as well as a Merit Badge Counselor. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Toledo.
Troy loved spending time with his family, going to the Smoky Mountains, and attending Central Catholic football games.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, James. He is survived by Laura; son, Stephen (Miranda); mother, Jennifer Glashaw; brother, Todd; sister, Joann (Rob) Bellrose; a nephew, and many nieces.
Troy will be laid to rest on his beloved Mackinac Island, with services at a later date.
