William Irons Obituary
William Neil Irons, 66, of Toledo, OH, passed away, Monday, May 21, 2018, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. Bill was born on June 10, 1951 in Toledo, the son of Elmer L. "Roy" and Virginia F. (Wymer) Irons. He was a 1969 Macomber High School graduate. He then attended Adrian college, where he played football and tennis. Bill was a steel worker for Baron Drawn Steel in Toledo, retiring after 30 years. He loved spending time with his kids and playing with his grandkids. Bill coached in the STARS Football League for over 20 years. He was a history buff and avid sports fan and could rattle off facts about either. Bill was a very active member of the UAW Local 12. He enjoyed playing softball, golf and spent many summers at Bay Point in Marblehead. Bill was an artist, poet and writer, and would travel on a whim to visit family or go see the White Sox or the Colts. He also was a concert goer, especially those of Elvis Costello. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are: children, Allison Irons, Christopher Irons and Ashley (James) Knight; grandchildren, A.J., Aria, Elijah and Emelia; siblings, Judith Turner, James Irons, Charles (Marie) Irons, Lee (Barbara) Irons, Philip (Patti) Irons, David (Wanda) Irons and Victoria Irons-Hall; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was also survived by his children's loving mothers, Jennifer Meszaros and Patricia Eddy, as well as his long time caring friend, Deb Carncross. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Carrie Irons; and brother, John Irons.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH 43537. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the STARS Football League.
