William McLuckie Obituary
July 3, 1929 - January 1, 2025
William Gearhart McLuckie, 95, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on January 1, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Bill was born July 3, 1929, in Toledo, to Olin and Edna (Vorderburg) McLuckie. Bill was a 1948 graduate of Libbey High School. He served in the U.S. Army, receiving The Purple Heart after being wounded in Korea. On March 19, 1955, he married Betty Helle, and they were married for nearly 64 years at the time of her passing. Bill retired from Libbey Owens Ford in 1988. He was a member of Barton Smith Masonic Lodge 613 for over 70 years.
Bill is survived his children, daughter, Terry (Bill) Metzler; sons, Scott (Lora) McLuckie, Bill (Michele) McLuckie; grandchildren, Jeff (Rochelle) Zuccarell, Craig (Rachel) McLuckie, Crystal McLuckie (Paul Ruhland), and Corey (Kayla) McLuckie; great-grandchildren, Evangeline and Samuel Zuccarell, Elizabeth McLuckie, and Grace McLuckie. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Phyllis Haeft; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Milling; sister, Helen Striggow; his nephew, Jim Striggow; and grandson, Robby Panza.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, 419-381-1900. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., January 6, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
