William E. Moll Sr., known affectionately to his family and friends as "Bill," passed away peacefully at home at the age of 79, on July 20, 2025. He succumbed to pancreatic cancer which was just diagnosed on June 20th. He was born on July 24, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, where he would remain a cherished member of the community throughout his life. His legacy is one deeply rooted in professional achievement, family devotion, and meaningful friendships.

Bill was a registered Professional Civil Engineer who owned and operated his business, W.E. Moll Engineers, for over 45 years. His career was marked by dedication and a profound commitment to his craft, showcasing not only his exceptional skills but also his entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to his business accomplishments, he held the title of past Exalted Ruler of Toledo Elks #53, reflecting his community involvement and leadership.

An avid learner, Bill excelled academically from a young age. He attended Libbey and Bowsher High Schools, where he not only displayed a strong academic performance but also earned letters in track and basketball. His commitment to athletics continued at the University of Toledo, where he received a track scholarship for pole vaulting and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree.

Bill's personal character was defined by his quiet demeanor and a witty sense of humor that endeared him to those around him. He was easygoing and displayed the traits of a smart businessman, making lasting connections in both his professional and personal life. He cherished time spent with his family, notably taking trips to Missouri and Galloway, Ohio, to visit his grandchildren, which brought him great joy.

On the family front, Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Michele. He also leaves behind his children, Bill Jr. (Julie), Catherine Brennan, and Beth (Carl) Lay; as well as his stepchildren, Laura (Mike Martinez) Rinehart, and Dan (Emy) Rinehart. Bill was a proud grandfather to Tyler Lay, Austin (Margaret) Lay, Kiara Lay, Jackson Moll, Emma Moll, Jeremiah (Sarah Ricketts) Rinehart, Josiah Rinehart, Jolenah Rinehart, Isaiah Rinehart, Isabellah Rinehart, Daniel Rinehart, Emanuellah Rinehart, and Elijah Rinehart. Bill also leaves behind his dear sister, Norma (Bill) Brinkerhuff; his nephew, Bill Brinkerhuff; and his sister-in-law, Toni (Bob) Trumbull; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Frances Moll; and his first wife, Anita. His proudest accomplishments include his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his love and values.

I remember the Ohio State/Michigan parties at the Elks. Bill used to sit in the other room alone and get the kids to cheer when they came in the room.
