Winifred June
Winifred June DeVries, age 95, of Sylvania, passed away January 10, 2017, at Goerlich Center, surrounded by her loving family. Winifred was born March 2, 1921, in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Raymond and Minnie (Higgins) Hornby. She was a self-employed art teacher. A member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church, she donated her time, creating many works of art that are on display. She enjoyed gardening and traveling throughout Europe. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Joel T. (Anita) Harold, Matthew Harold, Garrett DeVries, and Wendy McCoy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett; son, Garrett; and daughter, Diana.
The family will receive guests Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
