Yvonne Warnick Obituary

After a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Yvonne Atkinson Warnick, peacefully passed from this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the age of 80.

Yvonne was born on August 1, 1944, in Woodland, Utah, to Frank D. and Elaine Dugdale Atkinson. She grew up in Francis, Utah, alongside her two sisters and two brothers, where she developed a strong work ethic while helping on the family farm-milking cows, raising calves, and putting up hay.

She attended South Summit Elementary and South Summit High School, graduating in 1962. Although she longed to be part of Future Farmers of America (which did not allow girls at the time), she was an active member of the Pep Club and Future Homemakers of America, forming lifelong friendships within the tight-knit Kamas Valley community.

After high school, Yvonne moved to Provo, where she attended Brigham Young University, becoming the first in her family to earn a bachelor's degree, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Family Studies. During her time at BYU, she met Glen Warnick, a student at Utah State University. Their first date was to a BYU vs. USU football game, and just two weeks later, they were engaged. A few months later, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

In the early years of their marriage, Yvonne and Glen lived in Cache Valley, Utah Valley, and Kamas Valley before settling in Bridger Valley, Wyoming, where they raised their three children-first in Mountain View and later in Lyman. Though her greatest joy was being a devoted mother, she also taught piano lessons, provided daycare for many children, worked as a school crossing guard, and served as a substitute teacher, cherishing every opportunity to work with young people. She formed many dear friendships in Wyoming and treasured their time there.

In 2000, Yvonne and Glen moved to Tremonton, Utah, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She delighted in spending time with her growing family and also worked at ALCO until her retirement. She had a passion for sewing, quilting, and crafting, embracing the motto: "He who dies with the most fabric and craft supplies wins." Yvonne definitely won.

Yvonne's faith was an essential part of her life. She served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding various callings and sharing her unwavering testimony with those around her. Her favorite calling was serving as Young Women President in the Lyman 4th Ward, where she dearly loved the young women and fellow leaders she served alongside. She found joy in service and lived with kindness, compassion, and quiet strength.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Glen Warnick; her parents, Frank and Elaine Atkinson; her brothers, Tim Atkinson and Roy Atkinson; and her brothers-in-law, Kent Mansell and Stan Warnick.

She will be dearly missed by her three children, Brian (Tami) Warnick, Lynae (David) Johnson, and Stacie (Dean) McNeill; her eleven cherished grandchildren, Kyler (Rachel) Johnson, Kevin (Beth) Johnson, Krista (Garrett) Warnock, Justin (Aly) Warnick, Kamrin McNeill, Kade (Kylee) Johnson, Haylee Warnick, Konnor Johnson, Annie Warnick, Jake McNeill, and Kortnee McNeill; and her seven beloved great-grandbabies. She is also survived by her sisters, Dolores Mansell and Nina (Ed) Clyde; sisters-in-law, Janet Atkinson and Linda Warnick; brothers-in-law, Richard (Alaine) Warnick and Alan (Helen) Warnick; foster brother-in-law, Lamar (Debbie) Hatch; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 22, at 12:00 Noon at the Tremonton Stake Center (660 North 300 East, Tremonton, Utah). Viewings were held at the same church building on Friday, March 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the funeral. Online condolences and the recording of the service can be found at www.ruddfuneralhome.com.

Interment will take place at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mary Beth Scholand, Dr. Adam Meier, the staff at Bear River Medical Arts, and the team at Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Rhiannon, for their compassionate care.

Yvonne's legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the lives of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. "Remember, your grandma loves you!"
