Angelo Vagnozzi Obituary

Angelo Michael Vagnozzi PENNINGTON - Angelo Michael Vagnozzi, 81, of Pennington entered into God's loving care on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Capital Health Hopewell surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 18 year battle against Alzheimer's Disease. Son of the late Pasquale and Rosa Naticchia Vagnozzi, he was predeceased by his sister & brother-in-law, Catherine & George Hanuschik, his mother and father-in-law, Frank & Helen Corrado, his sister-in-law, Shirley Vagnozzi and his godchild, Bridget Corrado. Born and raised in North Trenton, he served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Thereafter, he worked for J.C. Vending and then owned a number of successful businesses, including the Wilbur Inn, West End Liquors, Ace Liquors, Sanhican Liquors, Ace Auto Sales and American Electric. He married his childhood sweetheart Cecelia Corrado in 1953 & spent 61 happy years and together raised seven children. Angelo will always be remembered for his generosity & kindness, his loyalty to his family and his undying admiration of the love of his life & soulmate, Cecelia. Angelo lived life to the fullest and was always positive & happy and saw the good in everyone. He lived to make others feel good. He enjoyed watersking, boating, camping and following the stock market. His greatest joy, however, was taking care of his family. He was the epitome of selflessness. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Cecelia, his five daughters & son-in-laws, Michelle & Mike Perone, Valerie Grover & Albert Collins, Donna Vagnozzi-Bucci & Ed Bucci, Rose & Allen Johnstone, Helene & Joe Evich and his two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Angelo & Colleen Vagnozzi, Patrick Vagnozzi & Mary Walsh. There are so many memories of Angelo that I could share! Being a part of this amazing family for 48 years has been a true blessing! Angelo and his wife Ceil were like another set of parents to me! Never judgemental, always caring, funny, so generous and brought so much to me growing up! I experienced so much from his generosity in my life! Treating me like his own child was a true tribute to his love and generosity. I remember him taking all of his kids to get shoes and he said "you too Phyllis". And off we went to the shoe store and I got a new pair of shoes. Experiencing snow mobiling, water sking, tubing, spending endless summers at his beach house in Seaside Park. I remember riding in the back of his Ranchero with all of his 7 children and he would drop us off at the boardwalk and take out his wallet and give us ALL money (including me) to have fun!

He was so goofy, funny, made everyone laugh and was so much fun! My name was Phyllis until I met Angelo, then it became Filomena De Qua Qua... always making me laugh! The biggest memory was from both Angelo and Ceil and that was excepting me for who I truly was and not judging... Love you Angelo and Ceil for that!!!!

Heart broken but at peace!

Love with all my heart!

Dear Vagnozzi Family,

Since the days of Notre Dame High School and Lieggi's Ewing Manor we have had a bond. I will always remember when the family would come to dine, and especially Helene and Michael, who would just come in and have a bite to eat and talk too. To Pat, who called me chicken chest, when he was a freshman I feel your pain. Michelle, who was married to the best soccer coach in NDHS history you have really been a good friend, who kept me in the loop as also Rose, who I would always say at a party when we were at ND, the girl I love is a secret. He's free from something that I know so well as my grandmother had alzheimers, lived to be in her 90's and cried when she died, but she was free from a disease that can make a family say why can't there be a cure. Mrs. Vagnozzi you were the glue that kept your family together and cared for your husband the best you could. The picture I put on this guest book is the picture of the only time I had my head down playing football when we lost to Holy Spirit in November of '78. I love you all and to Michael and Valerie, who I did not know well, but Donna, who is married to my childhood friend from St Ann's Eddie Bucci my deepest sympathy.

I'm so sorry. He was like a father to me when I was a little girl. I have such fond memories of him as a father to all of you. I am so sad he is gone and wish I had at least taken the time to visit in my latter years. It's because of your family that I love the Italian people and food. I need to visit all of you. Please send my condolences to your mom and to all of you.

Dear Cecelia (Ceil, Michael Donna, Patrick and the entire family.
I am heartbroken over the passing of your husband, father, grandfather and my buddy Ang.
From Trenton High he had a determination to do good. I can remember him busting his back humping those piano's and organs for a living.
He never stopped working so as to make a better life for his family. He thought of his old friend when he opended the first liqour store "Prospect Liqours" at the intersection with Bellevue Ave. I insured that property along with 23 Marion St. for him. Angelo had a heart of gold. He never once denied a helping hand to those in need.
When in the car business, we spent a lot of time together, and for the most part we laughed about the good times.
This country of ours was built on the backs of men like Angelo who worked hard, contributed to his community, took care of his family, and built a better life for all he loved.
I learned of his affliction from my nephew Johnny Zuccarrelli when visiting him in Florida last winter.
I called the house and had a long chat with Michael.
Please know Angelo was not only well liked, respected, and always the gentlman, but just a great all around nice guy; who I shall miss terribly.
Please know that I share your loss.
May he now rest in a painless peace which he worked so hard to earn.
My deepest sympathy to all

Sincerely
Mickey

I read your heartfelt message on Facebook and was not able to comment. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. What a wonderful man your father was, just reading what you wrote about him I could feel his love and warmth coming thru. You are his legacy, you will continue all of the wonderful things he taught you, and as he made the world a better place, you will carry that mantle for the rest of your life. From your description of him, there is no doubt he is in heaven enjoying all of the loved ones who came to welcome him home. You will be his shining light on earth. How proud of you he must be. May God bless you and keep you in His loving protection.
Sincerely, Maryanne
