Claire Mier Obituary
Claire Patterson Mier passed on August 22, 2016 at her home in Hamilton, NJ with her children at her side. Claire was 90 years old. Born 1926 in Trenton, NJ, to Umberto and Pacifica (Sorrentino) Del Brusco, Claire was the wife of the late Dean Gravatt Patterson (d. 1982) and Chris Mier (d. 2008). She was raised in the Italian neighborhood of Chambersburg in Trenton, NJ and enjoyed its many treats familiar to Trentonians. School at St Joachim’s, teenage work at the RKO Theatres and Henry Clay & Bock Cigar Factory , and supporting the war time work effort at the Circle F Manufacturing Company. She was a devout Catholic and member of the Divine Mercy Parish in Trenton. Her faith in Christ was strong and never wavered seeing her family through the Great Depression and more. She loved to dance, travel, cook, garden and much more. From making our clothes, to cleansing our souls, our mom was an eleven. Claire will be dearly missed by her children Sharon Patterson (John Pellini) of Westmont, NJ; Burtis Patterson (Patricia) of Loudon, TN; Delores Patterson (Frank Uzzolino) of Fort Pierce, FL; Dean Patterson (Stephanie) of Sedona, AZ; granddaughter Jennifer Hanner (Thomas) of Gibbsboro, NJ: sisters Mary Avignone (Mario) of Toms River, NJ; and Pat Donnelly (Richard) Ewing, NJ; and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Pietro Tripodi (Alma), Anthony Tripodi (Leonora) and Vito Tripodi (Rose) all from Trenton, NJ. The family wishes to thank Stephanie Maher, Agnes Schwendt, Maria and John Medina, George and Betty Bednar, and all Claire’s dear friends at Divine Mercy and the Hamilton Seniors Club for their decades of friendship. A special thank you to her caregiver Olga Ramirez for her compassion and wonderful care at home. Mass was celebrated at Divine Mercy (Holy Cross), Trenton NJ. Internment followed at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ. A celebration of life luncheon was held at Mafalda’s Italian Kitchen in Hamilton and attended by her entire family including her nieces, nephews and many of her dearest friends.
