Jessie Dinucci Obituary



Jessie "Sue" (Gambino) Dinucci, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Wethersfield, died peacefully on December 29, 2013. She was born on May 27, 1917 in Meriden to R. Alfonso Gambino and Mary DiBenedetto. She attended Meriden Public Schools. On September 7, 1940 she married Rinaldo (Lefty) Dinucci and they were married 61 years until he passed away on January 1, 2002. She lived in Wethersfield and Rocky Hill most of her life. She retired in 1982 from the Arthur A. Watson Insurance Agency, where she was employed for over 25 years. She loved to sing and dance and was a member of the Singing Buddies at The Lodge at Cold Spring, where she made many friends during the past 10 years. She was an avid bowler, gardener, a big fan of the UCONN girls' basketball team, watching all their games and a lifelong member of the Luna Club. She was an excellent cook and taught her family many great Italian recipes. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Dinucci of Windsor, Diane Sweeney of Charlotte, NC; her son, Tony Dinucci of Binghamton, NY and his wife Debi Stefanik Dinucci of Ballwin, MO; her grandchildren, John Meucci of West Hartford, Jessica Sweeney of Seattle, WA, Clifton Sweeney of Charlotte, NC, Bob Dinucci of Binghamton, NY, Blair and Brianna Dinucci of Ballwin, MO; a great granddaughter, Jenna Meucci of Vernon and a great-great granddaughter, Aurora Meucci Hayes. She is also survived by a sister, Anna Ceneviva of Bristol; a sister-in-law, Lillian Ambrose of Trumbull and a long time friend, Sadie Forte of Wethersfield. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Lucien and Anthony Gambino; sisters, Pauline Vecchiolla and Isabel Battiston and son-in-law, Clifton P. Sweeney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring. There are no calling hours. Donations in Jessie's honor may be made to A Better World - The Adoption Connection, 74 Batterson Park Rd., Farmington, CT 06032. dear, dear Linda.....I'm so sorry for the loss you now feel. No matter the age, losing one's mother, always leaves such a terrible void. It's wonderful that she was a part of your life for so many years, and that she lived such a long, and fulfulling life. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
